2 weeks ago I was asked by some missionaries to decorate for a wedding of an investing couple. Without really thinking, I told them yes. Then I realized that I was doing. I panicked! Luckily I have this blog because I wrote a post and you all came to the rescue! So thank you!!
One major problem that I had, I don’t live in Utah or Idaho, I live in the middle of no where in Kansas! There aren’t many crafts stores or party stores here. The closest big city is 3 1/2 hours away, so I had to make due with what I had.
I had a total of 10 days and I knew that I didn’t have much of a budget. They wanted to have 8 tables, a refreshment table and then I add the little guest table. They told me that they liked the colors cream and white (blah!). So I added yellow for a little more color
Well I went to work right away. I had just ordered several vases from the Dollar Tree, so I knew that I needed to use them. I was super excited when I found several decorative papers with white and cream, especially the one that said things like, “Love” ” I do” and other wedding words. I got most of my supplies from the Dollar Tree, Hobby Lobby and Target. I was able to decorate (it is very simple) for the grand total of $45, not too bad in my opinion!
Here are the centerpieces for the table. They would have looked so much better with circle tables, but we don’t have any. I just used this idea.
For some extra color and to make my dollar store tablecloths not look so bad, I stamped yellow daisies all over with a yellow Staz-On pad. After 2 I had enough but had to finish. A simple and cheap way to add color, but it’s time consuming!
There were a total of 4 different designs, here is the another one
This is what is on the refreshment table. I only made one because it’s pretty big. I got the idea here. I found this candle holder at goodwill for $1. It was an ugly olive green, so I painted it white and sanded the edges. I like how this turned out so well that I’m actually going to put it in my living room π
For some reason, the stage is just ugly to me, so I decorated the whole thing with some tulle and daisies.
I actually just taped the tulle with masking tape and then used a hot glue gun and glued the daises onto the tape
Here is the little table right at the entrance
I used the frames that I got from my wedding and then made the plate.
I got the idea here. The plate is made from a glass plate, fabric, and mod podge and the R is just a fancy font that I cut out of white cardstock.
There was a little mix up with the missionaries, I told them to bring 2 5 x 7 pictures of the couple, they brought one and then 4 of some children. So I just printed on the left over paper and put it in the frame. I think it turned out good π

This looks great. Fantastic job for a not so pretty cultural hall, short notice and a small budget. Those are each tough challenges and you took on all of them.
