About 1 1/2 years ago, I found my dream table at a garage sale for $75!!! It was awesome and I was so excited about it. It was exactly what I was looking for, colors and all.
The only problem with it, it only had 4 chairs. I was pregnant with my third child when we bought it. If I wanted to buy more chairs that matched, it would be $180 each. Yikes!! It hasn’t been too bad only having 4 chairs until recently. Now that our baby is 14 months, he sits at the table with us. We would just bring out a folding chair for dinner time. It’s not the prettiest thing in the world but it worked.
I was getting sick of the folding chairs, so I decided to do something about it. We had some chairs left over from our last table. They are cheap and not pretty but they are much better than the folding chairs. So I redid them real quick and now we have 6 chairs. It’s a little crowded, but not too bad 🙂
Here they are before, pretty ugly. Lots of ugly stains to go with them too!
All I did was spray painted them a dark brown and added fabric. I used a staple gun. I then put plastic over the fabric. I know it looks tacky, but with three kids, plastic looks better than horrible stains!

Looks good. I have vinyl over my fabric chair seats too, you are right in that it's better than letting them get stained and ruined.

That is awesome fabric! I love it! Thanks for linking up today!!

Lovely! Great job. I don't think plastic is tacky with children around! In fact, if we could do the whole house in plastic, I would be all for it! Ah, how simple would clean up be then?? A girl can dream. 😉

The plastic thing made me laugh. I broke down and bought a plastic cover to go over our tablecloth. Everytime I look at it I cringe, but it's better then having to wash the cloth tablecloth after every meal. The chairs turned out great!

The plastic cracks me up, too. 🙂 But ya gotta do what ya gotta do! The chairs look great!

Your very wise… you will need the plastic! I have 3 kids too. I tried to keep nice fabric on my bar stools. Cans and cans of Stain Guard couldn't go to battle with my 3 children. Now the stools are covered in a washable leather.

The plastic is a great idea- my mom could have used some. with 5 kids, the chairs were always stained. I love the fabric you chose!

Nice work! I dont blame you for covering them. Who wants to work that hard to make them look good and then have them destroyed?! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

They turned out great. And the plastic. I know how you feel, but it's so much better than gross stained fabric! When your kids get older you can take it off!
