Whatever Wednesday: Repurpose pants

Last year I bought a pair of pants at a garage sale. They were prefect in every way, except one. They were too short. So I always planned on doing something with it, but never did. Well I finally did, I made a pair of shorts of them and then with the left over pant legs, I made a couple of aprons!

So here are the cute pants
And here are the shorts
And here are the cute aprons I made out of them.

Tutorial Tuesday: Be Sign

Remember my mosaic family sign?? Well I loved it so much that I decided to use the same technique to make a sign with the 6 Be's.

I used a board that was 2 ft x 2ft and instead of 1 inch squares, I used 1 1/2 inch squares of paper. So using this tutorial, I was able to turn this:

into this:

It's a little busy I know, but it goes great in my family room.

This one I used fabric as the background and then mod podged the letters onto the fabric
This is one is also fabric, just more boyish
I just painted this one and used decorative paper
This one actually has trains, although it's kinda hard to tell
This is my first one, I made it back in February.

Tutorial Tuesday: Standing Chalkboard

Back when I was trying to come up with an idea for a teacher gift, I came up with this. It's a little chalkboard made out of the back of a frame. It is super easy to make and would look great on any desk or counter. I plan to use mine to celebrate any exciting news.
Here is how I made it:
1) Take the back of a frame. Mine is from an 8x10 frame, the glass was broken anyway.
2) Using chalkboard paint, I painted it. Make sure to read the directions
3) I then added some rub-ons
4) Using a glue gun, I glued on a little piece of ribbon to hold the chalk
5) Insert chalk and then write away! That's it, super easy and cheap.

Motivate me Monday #23

Happy Father's Day to all those wonderful dads out there!!!

How was everyone's weekend? I just got back from a week long trip in Boise. Wow, it feels so good to be home!! I didn't get a chance to look at all the links, so sorry! I was just too busy spending time with my family!

I'm so excited to see what you have done this past week. Sadly, not much crafting from me. Maybe this week will be better!

Whatever Wednesday: Spruce up Sunglasses

Last week I picked up some sunglasses at Target for $5. They are very basic, so I thought that I would spruce them up real quick with some rub-ons. It took about 2 minutes and now I love them!!

Here's another pair that I did.
If I had some little rhinestones, I would probably put them in the center of the flower for some added flare! :)

Tutorial Tuesday: Light Switch Frames

With Father's Day coming up this weekend, I did my usual, made my husband something involving the boys. I have been waiting to use this idea for awhile now, but didn't know what pictures to put it in. So I was super excited when I came up with the idea to use letters!!

This is how I made it:
1) I took three light switch plates

2) I then cut the center piece out using a saw

3) I then glued paper onto the light switch
4) I then cut out the middle and distressed the edges and then put mod podge all over it

5) I then decorated all the plates and then connects them with a notebook ring. I thought that it would be cute with ribbon too

6) Connect all three plates together

7) Then add some adorable pictures and that's it!!

Because this is for my husband's desk at work, I'm going to cover the back of the light switches with paper, so it doesn't look so bad from the back.

Whatever Wednesday: Father's Day Ideas

With Father's Day coming up, I thought I was post about some of the things that I have done for my husband in the past.

I made this shirt for him 3 years ago. I used paint but I think that now I would trace their hands on fabric and then put it on the shirt like that.

This was actually a graduation gift, it's up in his office. But you can use it for Father's Day. This actually took two photo shoots and over 200 pictures to get!

I made this photo box last year, it's packed full of fun photos of my boys!!

Tutorial Tuesday: Mod Podge Star

Thank you all for the sweet comments yesterday, it was a long day and it really made it much better!!

So I am loving garage sales this year!!! I have found a several good things. Well I found this star for $3 (it's huge, like 2 1/2 feet across) at one the other weekend. So I thought that I would spruce it up a bit with some scrapbook paper.
This is how I made it:
1) First I spray painted it brown. I wanted some of the star to show though, so I wanted it to be brown and not red.

2) Then I glued paper onto the star. I used a package of scrapbook paper that had several different designs but had all matching colors. I then used a brayer to make sure there weren't any bubbles.

3) I continued to glue all the of the paper around the star

This is what it look like with all the paper. I purposely left a gap in between the papers, so there was a contrast between the brown and the paper and so the papers wouldn't all blend together.

4) I then put mod podge all over the paper, making sure to really seal down the edges
And now it's hanging up in my master bedroom! I love the colors of it and look of it on my wall! Yay for cheap decorations that make me happy! :)
