Tutorial Tuesday: Shirt Makeover

So I am absolutely loving this repurposing and refashioning clothes!! It's so fun to do and it really cheap too! I LOVE it! I just go to garage sales, pick things up for $.25 or $.50 and then go crazy. Here is my latest creation, I made these fun flowers for the collar of this shirt!

This is how I made it

1) I took this dress/shirt. I'm not a big fan of the long shirts that you wear leggings under, so I just made it a shirt

2) I cut off about 5 inches off the bottom. This is what I used for the flowers

3) I then cut the fabric into circles. I had 5 big, 5 medium and 5 small ones

4) Using a zig zag stitch with the length on a low setting, I sewed around the circles. I got this idea here

5) I did that for all the circles, this is what it looked like with the three together

6) I added a little button (a way to stitch it onto the shirt) and then hand stitched the flowers onto the shirt. I started in the middle and worked my way out

7) I sewed all five flowers on and it's done!

Here it is on, I love the look of the flowers!

I love this idea so much, that I made some little clips and headbands for my baby (hopefuly, fingers crossed)

I found that the flowers look better when you used a stretchy fabric compared to cotton. The dark pink was made out stretch pants and the link pink was made out of an onesies.

CSN Stores Review: Bassinet

I was lucky enough to get to review one of CSN Stores products.

They seriously have a huge selection, so I didn't even know where to start. I had several items on my wish list, things that were practical, things that we needed and things that I just wanted for fun :). After much thought, I decided to go practical and purchase a cute little bassinet for my baby on the way (since I don't have one).

I had a really good experience with CSN Stores, their websites are easy to use and shipping is fast. I think I bought it on a Tuesday and it arrived on that Saturday!

One of my favorite feature about the stores is how easy it is to find things. They have it categorized so well. They had broad categories, like baby but they also have very specific ones too. I knew that I wanted bassinet that was green (we don't know what we are having yet and it matches my room and nursery). So instead of looking through 100's of bassinets, I only had to look through 10 and it was great! Another feature I love about the site is that you see only items in your price range, that was great!!

As for the bassinet, it is so cute!! I'm so excited to put my little baby in it. It has a few songs and even vibrates (yay!). But my all time favorite feature about it, it folds up! It will be great for storage and I can even bring it with us on trips. It is exactly what I was looking for in a bassinet and can't wait to really use it in a couple of months!

Scrapbook Thursday

Wow, it's been a long time since I've scrapbooked. I guess I go in spurts, I'll do it for a week straight and then go months without doing anything. Well here is one that I whipped up yesterday. It's nothing special but hey, it's done and in the book :).

I ripped off the corner, inked the edge and then put decorative paper behind it

Whatever Wednesday: Family Game Night Table

A couple weeks back, there was a link in my Motivate Me Monday party that I loved. A little chalkboard table. Well that weekend, I went out garage sale-ing and went looking for a cute end table. Well I scored and found this great table for only $3!

So I distressed it to match this table and then painted the top of it with chalk board paint.

Well after I put it in between my two couches, I decided that it was too small for the space. So I went garage sale-ing again and found this end table for $3. It wasn't as cute but it fit the space perfectly.

So using the same technique as the other one, I painted it. So now we can keep score on two tables :)

These are great for family night when we are playing games. They are also great to just let my kids draw on them :)

Tutorial Tuesday: Maternity Band

I have a pair of maternity pants that are so cute, but they go well above my belly. It drives me nuts!!!!! So I decided to cut off the top part and add a band to go under my belly. I saw this on a blog, but have no clue where, if anyone knows, let me know.

This is what I did

1) I started with a pair of pants. You can actually use non maternity pants, they just need to fit in the hips and legs.

2) I then cut off the top of the pants. I cut the pants to where it is right under my belly

3) Then I took a stretchy shirt (mine got bleached, so it was perfect for this).

4) I cut off the bottom 6 inches, I folded it in half to make a 3 inch band

5) I then pinned the band onto the pants

6) I then sewed it onto the pants. I used a straight stitch but kinda wish I used a zig zag, just for strength

And here they are. Much better than before, I love the under belly band! As you can see, I also turned them into shorts, it's just too hot!

Motivate Me Monday #31

Whatever Wednesday: Potty Chart

We have been potty training one of our sons lately, so I made him a little potty chart to help along the process. I just took a cookie sheet, mod podged some paper onto it and then made little magnets.

Every time he goes potty, he moves a little magnet onto the number and when he gets all 10 filled up he gets a treat or surprise!

Tutorial Tuesday: Ribbon Board

I made this ribbon board for my son's room. It was really easy and fun to make.

This is how I made it:

1) I used an old bulletin board

2) I took them apart and then painted the outside brown

3) Next I covered the cork board with fabric

4) Then I glued the sides down, making sure that they were pulled tight

This is how it looked with the fabric on, now to put on the ribbon

5) I measured the corners and then divided the length by 5 (who knew math would be involved)

6) I marked the sections with a push pin, this is where the ribbon will go

7) I glued the ribbon at the ends, pulling it tight when I glued it down

8) I continued gluing down the ribbon and then measured the other sides and put push pins where the other ribbon would go

9) I then glued the ribbon across the rest of the board

10) I then put buttons on push pins and then put them in between the overlapping ribbons

11) I put the cork board back into the frame

12) I put it on the wall and added some pictures, so cute!
