Elephant in the room

Have you noticed that the size of my pictures have increased this past week. Well with this new change, I feel like I should address the elephant in the room....

My pictures

They aren't beautiful, they aren't edited. I'm sure a lot of you have noticed it. I'm not a photographer. I don't have an awesome camera. I have to use my flash so there is always a glare. I take pictures on the floor because that is usually where I am working. Honestly, I'm usually creating in the middle of the night or during nap time, so I'm always in a hurry. I just grab my camera and take a picture. So I apologize for my unedited, unprofessional pictures. But it's not going to change any time soon. :)

I am very much the same way. I do use Picnik because it's fast, easy and free and I have so much fun with it. But I'm in no way a professional and because I use my phone camera my pictures are not high quality. And that's not likely to change any time soon either. :-)

I think your pictures are great, and your tutorials are always easy to follow. My pics on the other hand, are baaaad. Every now and again, I have to apologize for a specific pic, because it's so blurry or the lens was covered in some kind of schmutz(usually when I've been on a baking spree.)

I think the pictures are great too. If it is not broke, don't try to fix it:-)

With content like your's, you don't need to rely on over the top photography to sell it. We follow you because we think your projects are amazing! We love them, even if you think they are flashy!

ha! I'm so glad you posted this. I usually take pics when I'm working, too...from 10pm-1am! It is what it is!!

LOL! I have a point, flash and click camera! If I'm lucky I can take the photo in the day but most are taken at night when I'm sat on the family room floor with an array of toys and sippy cups just out of shot!

I picnik to tart them up a little or crop out something I don't want seen, nothing fancy!

Your content speaks for itself, pictures are nice, but not the be all and end all!

With almost 2000 followers you are definitely doing something right!

Don't change a thing!

Thank you for saying that. That's why I like your blog so much (not because your photos are unedited, but because when you say you're "keeping it simple", you really are!!). :-)

'Use what you have' is my theme right now.. so i love your keep it simple. Pictures no matter how great are not replacements for good original ideas. Keep it up!

Ack...I so could have written this myself! I love drooling over other people's beautiful blogs with beautiful pictures, but I can never seem to get myself in order to make my pictures gorgeous. And like you, it isn't going to change anytime soon! It's something I wish I cared more about, but don't.

You have no idea how much better reading that makes me feel. I often read a blog with these amazing pictures and then feel bad about my blog. In reality, I'm a crafter. I'd love to take a photography class and have an amazing camera, but today, I craft. You make awesome stuff. I love where your focus is at.

girl, I actually like that about your blog! it makes it not so intimidating that I look at your stuff and think "I can't do that." and like Lyndee said, it makes me feel better about my own blog photos. I live in a small apartment with windows only on one side of the rooms so not much natural light, and my only camera is my phone that doesn't have a flash!

My photos are the same. But really, my blog is for me! And I don't mind (=

aaahhhh, funny! That's life, really. Better to have glarey, unedited pics than no pics at all. I'm laughing at your matter-of-fact honesty- refreshing and useful. Thanks for your post. Happy blogging.

I feel the same way about my pictures. So, I understand. But your blog is awesome! You have great ideas - so I certainly wouldn't stress about it! The most important thing is how wonderful your blog is! :)

I think there's become a weird expectation of professional quality among us these days. I've even seen a friend say that she will only take pictures of her daughter if she has the natural light to not need a flash. Don't we start to miss special moments when professional quality becomes the emphasis rather than capturing life? Thank you for showing who you really are rather than the DSLR version of you :) I also use a point and shoot. I have been really pleased with just how good of pictures I can get with it! I do touch mine up a bit, but just use the free tools that come with Windows 7's photo viewing program. Keep keeping it real (and simple ;))!

This has got to be my favorite post of all time. So honest. You own it baby.

Ditto what everyone said... your content rocks, and I appreciate your honesty more than you can imagine. It's nice to kow I'm not the only one that crafts late at night and has to use the dreaded flash.
