Home Tour: Entry Way

Since I'm moving soon, I thought that it would be fun to post all of my before and after pictures of our house. We have lived here for 3 1/2 years and I have painted every room in some way! Oh how I love paint and how it can transform a room. This has been our first house and I have truly loved putting my own personality into it. I'm sure going to miss it, that's for sure!!!

So I'm going to take you on a tour of my house, room by room.

Here is my entry way, what you see when you walk into my house.

This is what it looked like when we moved in: The dark purple just wasn't doing it for me....

And then in the after:
I went with blue, brown and orange. The lighter color really brightened it up!

We replaced the large area rug with a little one. We love the tile and wanted to let people see it!

The welcome sign is made from wood blocks, buttons and a vinyl circle.

I'm looking into buying a house in a neighborhood where a good third of the houses are split foyer like yours. I tend to find the entry unwelcoming, like you walk in the house and if you're not careful, you'll fall down the stairs.

How have you felt living in a house like this? Do you get used to the feeling of walking in and hitting stairs right away? And other than the "welcome" sign, did you do anything to address the awkwardness of the entry?

You know I didn't mind it too much. It was a big enough entry that it didn't feel awkward.

What a great idea to photograph the changes you made before you leave! We recently moved and I wish I'd have done something like that also... just to remember it by if nothing else! Good luck with your move!

I grew up with a split level entry and I actually like it better than what I have now, now you walk into my house and you are immediately in the livingroom, it's a little akward if you ask me, I like having the separation of the landing right when you walk in.
