Hello, my name is Ann and I blog at A Girl in Paradise. We all have our own definition of “paradise”. Some see it as beautiful sunsets and long walks on the beach. I see it as the freedom to express myself in the things that I like to make. Of course, living where the sun is always shining doesn’t hurt. On my blog I sew, quilt and craft, there you will find a variety of different projects and tutorials.
Today, I want to share with you some simple bracelets I made from suede cording. You can buy suede cording at most big box craft stores in the beading section, along with the circular beads, and metal ribbon clasps that I used. These bracelets are very easy to put together and inexpensive to make. One package of cording will make about 3 or 4 bracelets depending on how many stands you use in each bracelet.
Here are the supplies that you will need:
Here are the supplies that you will need:
- 3mm Suede Cording
- circle beads
- ribbon clasps
- needle nose pliers
- regular pliers
- scissors and tape
To start off cut 4 strands of suede about 7 1/2” or a 1/2” longer that your desired length. When the suede comes off its cardboard packaging it can still hold the shape of the cardboard so you might want to flatten out first. This can be done by either placing under a heavy book over night or pressing it under a towel. Don’t press directly on the suede the direct heat will ruin the suede. Add your metal ribbon clasp to one end of the 4 srtands with pliers.
Next you are just going to weave the circular beads between two of the suede strands, 4 on one side and 3 on the other. That way there it the beads will be staggered when you are wearing it on your wrist.
Add the metal clasp to the other end with your pliers and add the o rings and lobster claw clasp. Note: that when you are buying metal ribbon clasps they are not always sold with the o rings and lobster claw clasps. If that is the case you can buy the lobster claw clasps separately.
That’s it you are done. Cute, casual and you can wear it with jeans. That is my kind of accessory!
Next is the braided bracelet. You will need to cut 3 strands of suede cording 8” long or 1” longer than your desired length, add the metal ribbon clasp with your pliers to one end of the 3 strands, and then tape down to your work surface. Braid the suede cording all the way down to the end. Add your second metal ribbon clasp and your O rings and lobster claw clasps and you are done.
This bracelet I have fallen in love with. I really like the simplicity of it and how it sits on my wrist. Sorry, I just couldn’t get a good picture of that. I think I will have to make more of them one in every color.
What do you think?
