Keeping it Simple: Fabric Presents on the Wall

Fabric Presents on the Wall

Last night we put up our Christmas tree.  I love that it’s that time of the year!  As we were putting up the tree and my kids would not leave the ornaments alone, it made me realize that I wouldn’t be able to put presents under the tree until it’s really close to Christmas.  That made me a little sad because the tree looked so bare.  So I decided to put some presents on the wall instead.

This is how I made them:
I took lots of fun red and green fabric, mod podge and contact paper.  Vinyl would work just fine too, contact paper is just cheaper.

I cut the fabric and contact paper to the same size.

Then I put on a layer of mod podge onto the contact paper.

Carefully I pressed the fabric onto the contact paper, making sure to get out all of the air bubbles.

Now to cut the fabric.  I used my Cricut Mini to cut the fabric.  It did a great job (this was my first time cutting fabric with it).  I use the depth of 4 and pressure of 3.

And here it the fun present all cut out.

For some of presents, I just cut out squares of fabric using my scissors.  Then I cut out some bows out of sparkly vinyl.  I used the depth of 3 and pressure of 2 to cut it out.

And here is another present.

I peeled off the back of the contact paper and stuck the present right onto the wall.  I was impressed by how well it stuck to the wall, especially since my walls are so textured.

I put the rest of the  presents up.

I just love the shapes and the colors of the presents, so much fun!

And now it looks like I have a few presents under my tree Smile

  2. That is really cute. How do you like the Circut? I really want a Silhouette, but they are so expensive, maybe a Circut is a good solution.

  4. I like to put presents under the tree, but with little ones visiting it isn't always ideal. This is perfect! Thanks for sharing! I have always wanted to use my cricut with fabric but haven't had a project until now.
