I love duct tape. It’s seriously one of my favorite things in the whole wide world. Back when I was in high school, I was the duct tape queen. I made everything out of duct tape. When I created something, I made it out of duct tape. I loved it and had so much fun creating different things. I just had to share with you some of the things that I made in high school. Give you a little glimpse of the high school me.
First off I made a skirt completely out of duct tape. I made it and then wore it to church on my 17th birthday. The first picture is of me trying to put it on, without making a slit or anything. Oops. So I made an opening and used Velcro to close it.
The same year I decided to make some multi colored suspenders out of duct tape..
I went to a dance called Irish Twist. It’s where the girl asks the guy to the dance and they you have matching socks. So I made my date and me some awesome matching duct tape socks. Even my friend Brittany made some awesome socks for her and her date too.
The next year, for Irish Twist we decided to have the them be Robin Hood: Men in Tights. We got some green knee highs and then I made everyone a duct tape back pack to hold our bows and arrows.
It seriously was a fun night!
I had a lot of fun in high school and I love to make things with duct tape. I so wished that they had the awesome patterns that they have now. Duck Tape® brand duct tape is by far my favorite. They have the coolest designs!
For some reason I didn’t make anything out of duct tape for prom. It’s that time of year that kids and parents are thinking about upcoming proms.
I was given some duct tape and challenged to come up with something that would be great to wear to prom. When I think about prom, I immediately think about the dress. Then at a close second, I think about the awesome shoes. I thought that it would be so fun to make some duct tape shoes that would get great with a sparkly prom dress (or in my case, I black maxi skirt).
This is how I made them:
I took a pair of high heels and then some fun Duck Tape®. I went with a busy pattern so it’s harder to see the seams.
I started with the straps and put the duct tape onto it. When I was working around the curves, I cut the duct tape to help bend it. I even covered the inside of the strap.
I flipped it over and then covered the heel of the shoes.
And then I decided to cover the blue part.
I did the same thing to the other shoe. It was super easy and I love how they look!
All you need is a pair of shoes and your favorite Duck Tape® and you can have new shoes in an hour or so.
I paired it with my black maxi dress but I bet they would go with several different colors. They just really pop!
Do you know someone that is going to prom soon? Duck Tape® has an awesome scholarship contest called Stuck at Prom®. You create something out of Duck Tape® brand duct tape and then wear it to prom and then submit it. There are over $40,000 prizes. You must be 14 years or older to enter and be from US or Canada. Contest begins 3/18 and ends 6/10. So if you love duct tape as much as me, start creating and wear it to prom!!

Love your post today! One of my dear friends has ductape (spelling is changed to fit) on her license plate and last week we were talking about names. We were asked if we could change our name to anything what would it be and she of course said Duct Tape!
