Sewing Busy Bag Activity {Melly Sews}

Today I'm sad to say that this the last post from Melissa at Melly Sews.  She has had some amazing tutorials and tips about sewing and I have really enjoyed having her here!  Make sure you go check out her blog and follow her because she is crazy talented and has some awesome ideas!

 Hello Keeping it Simple readers! Today I have a sewing-ish busy bag project. There's no real sewing involved, unless you decide to make the drawstring bags. You'll need: Yarn Craft Foam Sheets Pipe Cleaners A drill My MOMs group recently had a busy bag swap where we each brought 4 of the same busy bags, and took 4 different ones home. I had never done this before, but really enjoyed it. So I cut my foam sheets in half to have 4 sheets for each bag. To make these: Stack up your foam sheets

With your drill, drill holes in a random pattern over the sheet. Put the sheets on scrap wood or a surface that won't get hurt, because you do need to drill all the way through the bottom foam piece.

Fold your pipe cleaners in half, then in half again and twist the ends around each other to create a "needle"

Add yarn of varying colors, and show kids how to use their "needle" to sew through their "fabric"

If you want to be extra fancy, put your busy bag together in a drawstring bag with this tutorial.
