I am obsessed with duck tape, I have mentioned that a few times before. I absolutely love all the different colors and designs that there are now. Duck Brand® has some awesome duck tape designs and colors. The Valentine’s Day are so much fun, the heart and lips ones are awesome and I can’t wait to make something with them. They have designs but they also just have plain colors and those are so much fun to create with too.
When we think about Valentine’s Day, I think we immediately think about hearts and roses. I love roses but they don’t last very long, so I wanted to make some roses for my dining table that would last longer than a couple of days. So I made some out of the fabulous colors of Duck Brand® duck tape. Aren’t they so much fun? I seriously love how they turned out!
Here are the awesome Valentine’s Day designs, aren’t they so much fun?! There are so many possibilities. You could easily make a Valentine’s Day craft with them!
This is how I made them. I’m going to try to explain it as much as I can. The rose is made up of several “pedals” that are rectangles taped together and formed into the shape of the rose.
First I cut a strip of duck tape that was about 3 inches long and then folded it in half (sticky sides together).
I then took the piece of tape and then cut it in half. I then folded the piece in half again, to make a square. I made several of those to make the center of the rose. I put four of the squares together, with the corners pointing up and then taped them together. Then I rolled them onto each other and taped them together. I used that for my middle.
I then would take the individual squares and tape them onto the center piece. I made the corners pointing out. I then just worked my way around the center.
As I worked around the center, I made the pedals bigger. Rather than using squares I used rectangles (I didn’t cut the first piece of tape in half, I used the whole piece). I then took a piece of duck tape and wrapped it around the bottom of the rose and shaped it. I folded back the pedals to open up the flower.
For the stem I stuck a fun straw into the base of the rose and then taped the straw onto it.
I made 4 more with the other colors.
I put them into a mason jar. I also cut a couple of straws to make them different heights.
I just love how they look on my dining table!
