Girl’s Room D├ęcor Idea: Flower and Butterfly Painted Canvas #DecoArt

Disclosure: I have been compensated for this post.  All opinions, content and ideas are 100% my own.

My little girl's room is starting to come together.  I wanted to add a little painting in her room.  Instead of using stencils like I normally do, I decided to just paint it free handed. It was actually very simple to do and really anyone can do this.  My favorite kind of paint is crafter's acrylic so I used that to paint the canvas.

I used several colors of the acrylic paint from DecoArt.  It was fun to just blend them and just have fun with the paint.  I just used 16x20 white canvas.

First I painted one section green.

Then I added some purple and then just started painting.  I just winged it, that's the fun of painting free hand.

Then I drew some flowers.

My favorite thing that I like about crafter's acrylic paint is that it's thick, so I was able to paint over things that I didn't like or blend the colors together.

Once I finished it, I just added some command strips and then put it onto the wall.

And here it is in her room.

I love the bright colors of the painting and how it looks in her room.

10,000 Facebook Fan Celebration: Silhouette portrait machine GIVEAWAY

This past weekend I accomplished a HUGE goal of mine.  I made it to 10,000 followers on Facebook.  Woohoo!!!  I am so excited about this so I thought that we should celebrate.  And what better way to celebrate than to give away my FAVORITE crafting tool, a Silhouette.

Silhouette is nice enough to give one lucky winner a silhouette portrait!!  This machine is amazing and can do so many things, like cut fabric, paper, vinyl, leather, and felt. You can print something off and it can cut around the printed image.  I seriously love these machines!  I have more than 200 projects that I have done, the possibilities are endless.

Would you like to win one of these slick machines??  Seriously, you're crazy if you don't want to!

Minecraft Idea: DIY Minecraft Backpacks

Today is the first day of school!!  Woohoo!!  I'm so excited.  Three of my boys are now in elementary school.  When we were shopping for backpacks I was looking at all of the different characters and saw that they were around $20, yikes!!  I told my boys that they could pick out a back pack but if they picked out a plain one (they were only $10) that I would turn them into Minecraft backpacks.  Two of them liked that idea, so I made them some awesome Minecraft back packs.

This is how I made them:
I took a regular gray back pack.

Using my Silhouette CAMEO, I cut some creepers and an endermen.  I also rearranged some squares into their names.  I then peeled away the vinyl and left the excess vinyl (the stuff that you would usually pull off).

I then used some transfer tape and put the vinyl onto the back pack.

I then painted the creeper and name.  Since the back pack didn't lay flat, it was a little tricky to get perfect lines on the paint.  But it still looked good.

I pulled off the vinyl and let it dry.

Then I colored in the face.

And here are my boys wearing their backpacks.

They were being so goofy while I was trying to take pictures.  I think they are just as excited about school as I am :)

After School Snacks Idea with Encouragements Signs

This shop has been compensated by #CollectiveBias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

School is starting this week for us and it's time for me to start getting ready for school and the routine of things.  When my kids get home they immediately ask for a snack.  Anyone else's kids do that?  I swear they don't eat during lunch because they seem to be starving after school.  So I need to get some after school snacks that are more than just crackers and cheese.  They need something that is easy, yummy and will keep them full until dinner time.

I headed to Walmart to get some snacks for the kids.  I got some Delimex taquitos and Bagel Bites. Both were in the freezer section.

Since the first day of school is coming up this week, I made up some fun signs for their after school snacks on the first day of school.  This is a big week for my kids.  First day of school at a new school in a new state.  And for my 5 year old, this week is he starts kindergarten.  I know that all of my kids are a little nervous about this week, so these encouragement signs will be a great way to celebrate their little victories of going to school.

I made some free printables (you can get them here), cut them out and put them onto toothpicks and put them onto the bagel bites and taquitos.  Fun huh?  I think my kids are going to enjoy them this week.

The taquitos and bagel bites are perfect #AfterSchoolSnacks because my kids can make themselves.  I just had my 9 year old read the directions himself.

Then he put them into the microwave and cooked them.  So nice since I'm usually trying to figure out dinner when they kids get home from school and things always seem to be crazy after school.  It's just nice to have one less thing to worry about.

My kids enjoy them, especially since they are made with real cheese and homemade sauce with 0g trans fat. It's so nice that my kids are getting older and more independent :).

The taquitos are great for my kids too.  Super easy to make too.

These are going to be perfect for after school snacks but they will be great for lunch for this guy.  He's afternoon kindergarten starts at 12:30, so I'll have to make him a quick lunch.  These only takes a minute to make, perfect.

Both of these snacks foods have coupons (yay for saving money!).  Here is the one for Bagel Bites and here is the one for Delimex.

Are you kids starving when they get home from school?  What kinds of snacks do you make for your kids?
