Minecraft Creeper Dresser with DecoArt Chalk Paint

Disclosure: I was given the paint to try out, all ideas, opinions and content are 100% my own.

My boys' Minecraft room is coming together nicely.  It's so fun to see all the different decorations coming together.  I bought this dresser the first week that I was here in Washington (so two months ago).  I loved how it looked, but it needed to have some color and a little work.  I ended up getting it for only $10 and it's in good shape, so I was happy with it.
I have always wanted to try out the chalk paint and let me tell you, it's awesome!!  It's just so nice and love how it looks!  My favorite thing is that it only took two coats of paint (instead of the usually 3) and I didn't have to prime.

I got some fun colors from DecoArt.  The only that I used for the dresser were carbon, relic and fortune.  The teal and white are everlasting and treasure.
First thing I did with the dresser is take off the horrible stickers.  They were so old and stuck on there.  She even had Precious Moments stickers on there.  Once those were off, I took off the handles and spray painted them black.  Then I taped the drawers and put on a coat of the carbon paint.  This is what it looked like after one coat.  Once it dried, I did another coat.

Then I painted all the drawers fortune green.  I actually added a touch of the everlasting (white paint) to make it not as dark.  Worked like a charm.  Once it was dry, I taped the face of the creeper.

To make sure the tape was sealed down, I did a quick coat of paint with the green paint around the edges of the tape.

Then using the relic color, I painted the face.

I took off the tape and put the handles back on.  I love it!  It looks so great in their room!

And I love the finish of the chalk paint.

Men’s Shirt Idea: Old School Accounting Shirt

My husband is an accountant.  I always like to make fun of him about being nerdy and being an accountant.  Have you ever noticed that whenever there is a nerdy character on a movie or tv show, they are usually an accountant.  I think it's funny. I'm really into making him funny shirts lately.  I made this one just the way I made the I Turn Grills On shirt.  But instead of just getting an image, I designed the abacus myself.  That's the joys of having the designer edition software!

Tips on How to Find Great Deals at Yard Sales

I am an avid yard saler, I love it!  I have been doing as long as I can remember.  I remember when I was in grade school, there was a whole sign that said, "we negotiate".  I asked my mom what negotiate meant and she told me that I could ask down the price.  I had a $1 Boggle game in my hand and I went and ask for $.50 for it. :)  Ever since then, I've been negotiating and getting good deals at yard sales.  This summer I have gotten a TON  of great things.  I have been going almost every Saturday morning and it seems like I find something great every time.

Here is just a few things that I have found this summer:

Bookshelf for $5.
All I did was painted the bookshelf with a fun purple color and then added some vinyl flowers and butterflies to it.  I didn't sand or prime the bookshelf (I'm sure people would recommend it).  I put on three coats of paint.

Dresser for $5.  Lamp for $5.

I spray painted the hardware purple and then added some vinyl to the dresser.  Very easy and cute!  I just spray painted the base of the lamp pink to match the room.
Shoes for me.  Sandals were $.50, heels were $2.
I love getting shoes from garage sales.  I just disinfected them really good and they are good to go!
Dresser for $10.  The three end tables were all for $15.
I just recently redid the dresser (that's coming this week).
I just spray painted the tables.

Chair $5, cake stand $2, mirror $.50 and squares shelves for $1.
I recovered the chair with some awesome fabric using a staple gun and a glue gun.  For the square shelves, I just spray painted them (I love spray paint).

Play car $7.  Shoes for $.50.

Here are a few things that I do to find such great deals:
1- See the potential of everything.  It's amazing what paint can do to something.  If it's in good shape, the right size and what I'm looking for, then I get it.

2- I go out around 8:00 am. The best stuff goes first, so you need to get out early.

3- Don't be afraid to negotiate the price.  I have found that people are usually willing to go down a couple dollars.

4- Within 2 minutes I can tell if they are priced to sale or priced to make money.  When they are priced to make money, then I look but don't buy anything else it's exactly what I'm looking for.

5- Kids' clothes are a great deal at yard sales.  I usually pay $.50 to $1 for things, depending on how nice they are.  It's amazing how much money I can save when I buy my kids a few things at yard sales and then I only have to buy a couple things at stores for back to school.

6- I also buy a ton of my clothes there.  People either don't like their clothes or they don't fit.  Whatever reason, it seems like you can find some really good stuff.  I usually pay about $1 for things.

7- Kids' toys, especially baby toys are easy to find and get good deals on.

8- Spray paint is a yard saler's best friend.  I seriously spray paint almost everything that I buy for my house.

9-  To find good things, you have to be willing to look and really look.  Dig through the clothes piles, go through the tables of knick knacks and things like that.

10- Don't be afraid of a project.  Every weekend when I go, I bring home some kind of project.  Right now I have a lot more time than I do money, so it works out for me.

If you haven't tried going to yard sales, you need to, they are awesome!!

Bathroom Sign Free Printable and Cottonelle Flushable Wipes with Coupon

I was selected for this campaign through Linqia and will be compensated for this post.  All ideas, opinions and content is 100% my own.

Did you know that every house has a bathroom?  Well it's because we have to "go".  Seriously with 5 kids, going potty or poop is something that comes up hourly at our house.  And I'm sure that it comes up regularly at your house too.  Well I'm a HUGE fan of flushable wipes.  Like huge fan.  We have some in every single bathroom.  For my kids' bathroom I want to have one that is easy for them to get the wipes and not have to worry about closing the lid so the rest of them don't dry out.  So I got them a Cottonelle upright dispenser.  They are so great to use to get that clean feeling after you go.

I can't seem to leave anything alone and plain, so I stick on some vinyl circles to add a little but of color and design.

The lid pops up and the wipes come out.  Perfect for my kids to use them.

I also made a quick sign {free printable} for them, because sadly my boys need help remembering these things.  So I'm hoping that this constant reminder will make them do it!

If you haven't tried them, you need to.  You can save $2 on the dispenser and the clean care toilet paper, just go here to print out the coupon.
