Spring Cleaning Idea- How to Clean Tile Grout with No Harsh Chemicals

I have spring cleaning fever!  It's warmer now and I want to start cleaning, decluttering and start some projects on my house.  One thing I have been wanting to do for a long time is clean the grout in our tile floor.  We have a ton of tile and and the grout is pretty dirty and a dark brown, instead of a light brown it's supposed to be.  Well I found out a trick that you can use that I bet most everyone has in their house.  Best part, there is not harsh chemicals in it!

Here is my entry way, the tile continues into my dining room and kitchen.

All you need to clean it is hydrogen peroxide.  You can get it a bottle of this size for only $1 and it does a great job.   Then you need a grout brush or a stiff toothbrush.

All you do is pour the hydrogen peroxide onto the grout and then let it sit for a minute.  Then you scrub it.  Then you wipe up the extra hydrogen peroxide with a towel.  That's it!  It's so easy that I we had the kids do it too.  And even with not much scrubbing, there was a noticeable difference in the color.

You can also use baking soda and vinegar.  It works too but it's messier.  So we just used the hydrogen peroxide for the bulk of it.  All of my kids had a blast doing it too.  So if you want a fun family cleaning project, go clean your grout :).

I am going to try this. I tried Oxy Clean and it made a mess. I had to wash the floors three times after doing it to get rid of the residue. I was worn out after just scrubbing. (I am pregnant so... I should probably tell the hubby to take this one.) :)
