For the past few years I have made it a goal to be more healthy, in everything that I do. I try to exercise regularly and eat healthy. Some days are definitely better than others. Some months are better than others. But I have found that whenever I have junk food in the house I eat it. And when it comes to eating healthy, snacking is what makes or breaks me. I can do good with what I eat for the meals, but those in between meals are what get me. When I get bored, I want to eat. So I eat and I usually like to go for something sweet (because I love sweets!). I’m realizing that this is something that I just need and want in my life, so instead of getting rid of sweets, I’m learning to control and have smaller portions of sweets. The best way for me to get something sweet is buy eating yogurt. I love Greek yogurt because it has the protein that I need, so I decided to make a sweet and salty Greek yogurt that will be perfect for when I need something sweet.
I headed to Walmart to pick up some Yoplait® yogurt. They have a huge selection of flavors and types of yogurt: Original, Light, Greek and Gogurt®. I picked up some Greek yogurt for my snack time.
Here is what I picked up. I’m so excited to see that they have the Whips! I love the fluffy yogurt.
For the chocolate and caramel crunch yogurt, you will need:
Pretzels
Yoplait® Vanilla Greek yogurt
Caramel bites
Mini chocolate chips
I melted the caramel bites. I used about 4 TBSP of caramel with 1 TBSP of water and heated it in the microwave for 45 minutes. Then I dipped the pretzels into the caramel.
I let them cool on wax paper.
Then in a little sandwich bags (I made several bags) I put in 1/2 TBSP of the mini chocolate chips and then 5 caramel covered pretzels (cut up into thirds). I did this for portion control. This way they are already done and ready to go and also I know exactly how much I’m putting into the yogurt.
I taped the bag onto the yogurt and put it into the fridge.
When I need a snack, I can just grab it and dump the bag in and enjoy.
It was so yummy! Plus one container of yogurt has 13g of protein, I am always looking for foods that are high in protein, so I’m always glad when I find one I love.
You can enjoy it at home or on the go. I took the kids to the splash pad and tried to enjoy my sweet snack by myself, but that never happens. My little guy wanted some too :). He approved of it too!
What is your favorite flavor of yogurt? I’d love to know! I love all kinds of flavors, but my favorite is the Red Velvet Cupcake from Yoplait® Light.
