Simple Tips to Organize Your Pantry

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #AHugeSale #Safeway #CollectiveBias

I am always so surprised by how much food we go through in our house.  You would think that I would be used to it since I go shopping every week and buy a lot of food, but it still surprises me.  I always think that I am buying a lot of food and that it will last for a month or so and then all the sudden it will be gone in a week (those growing boys of mine are going to eat me out of house and home pretty soon).  Since we go through so much fun, I LOVE a good sale where I can stock up on food that I know that we will go through and eat quickly.  Right now Albertsons and it's banner stores are having a huge anniversary sale,  I'm going to head there and stock up on some food and you should too!  But before I go shopping I have to organize my pantry so I can fit all the food I plan to  buy.  I wanted to share some simple tips that worked really well for me in my pantry!
#ad Simple-tips-to-organize-your-pantry #AHugeSale

I shopped at Safeway at the anniversary sale but you can shop at the different stores like Albertsons, Vons, or Amigos.
#ad #ahugesale
From July 29 until August 11 the stores are going to have a variety of deals that you aren't going to want to miss!  I love shopping these sales because the more you buy the more you save.  Plus whenever go I into one of the stores all the workers are so nice and friendly with me, I love that they ask me if I need help finding anything.

I picked up some Lay's Potato Chips and some Gatorade.  These are perfect for afternoon snacks for my kids.  During the sale you can get the Gatorade, 8-pack 20 oz. bottles for $3.99 each when you buy 5. You can also get Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast for $1.79 a pound and Pepsi, 24 pk cubes for $5.88 when you buy 2.

I decided that I needed to organize my pantry, it was a disaster in there.  So I cut out some vinyl and separated my food into different groups.  I'm hoping that this will help for organization purposes but also for inventory purposes.  I can look at shelf and see what is there and see quickly whether or not I need more food of a certain kind.
#ad Simple-tips-to-organize-your-pantry #AHugeSale (5)
I put the vinyl directly onto the shelf and then put the food onto the shelf.
#ad Simple-tips-to-organize-your-pantry #AHugeSale (9)
I also picked up some baskets to put snacks into.  I decided to separate some of the bulk snacks that I buy into sandwich bags.  This way my kids can grab an individual bag of chips rather than eating the whole big bag.  It's a great way to help with portion control (for them and for me).  I also put the Gatorade in a basket so they can grab one real quick too.
#ad Simple-tips-to-organize-your-pantry #AHugeSale (8)
I also got a basket for some miscelaneous snacks.  Have you ever had three boxes opened with just one package in each one.  These baskets help with that.  I just put a bunch of the snacks into the basket and threw away the box.  It makes it so much easier to see what we have and it makes it less cluttered.
#ad Simple-tips-to-organize-your-pantry #AHugeSale (11)
My kids approved of the bags of chips and Gatorade.  They were pretty excited to read the "afternoon snacks" label and know that they could have whatever was in the basket for their snack.
#ad Simple-tips-to-organize-your-pantry #AHugeSale (12)
Look at that smile, he's one happy kid!!
#ad Simple-tips-to-organize-your-pantry #AHugeSale (13)
And I'm one happy mom because my pantry is more organized and ready for me to stock up on some more food to get ready for the school year!

What kinds of foods do you go through the most?  What food are you going to stock up at Safeway?

DIY Disney Princesses Notebooks

This post contains affiliate links.

School is coming soon (yay!!!) and the stores have all of their school supplies out (another yay!).  I love to get stocked up on school supplies this time of year because they are so cheap!  I love to buy regular supplies and then turn them into fun designs and characters.  My little girl is started to really love all of the Disney Princesses, so I thought I would turn some composition notebooks into princesses.  They were so easy to make and they turned out so cute!!!!

Easy and Simple Ways to Organize a Small Laundry Room

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #TotalBleachControl #CollectiveBias

Laundry......  It is one of my biggest enemies.  I swear I am always doing laundry and no matter how much I do, there is always more to do!  I am always asking my kids if they would just run around in their underwear, but apparently they are too old for that now, sigh.  So I get to do laundry, over and over again.  Since my kids are getting older I am making them do a lot of the work.  I do the laundry and fold it, but I make them put it away.  I came up with a system in my small laundry room and I'm excited to share it with you because it has been working great for us!
#ad Easy-and-simple-ways-to-organize-your-laundry-room #TotalBleachControl
I have a fairly small laundry room, so in order to make it work, I have added several shelves and cabinets.  Right above my washer I keep my detergent, dryer sheets and bleach.
#ad Easy-and-simple-ways-to-organize-your-laundry-room #TotalBleachControl (30)
And on the other side we have another cabinet/table and a shelf with a rod to hang clothes on.  This has been a life saver for me, it's so nice to be able to hang up the clothes as I am folding them because if I don't do it then, it won't get done!  I definitely recommend some kind of folding table, if you can't fit one in, you can always build one over your washer and dryer like I did in my last house :).
#ad Easy-and-simple-ways-to-organize-your-laundry-room #TotalBleachControl (1)
One of the major problems we were having was getting clothes mixed up (especially when my husband folded the clothes).  When you have three boys, that are only 2 years apart, all of their clothes start to look the same and it's hard to tell them apart.  So I would try to separate them but when they went to put away their clothes they didn't know where their clothes began or ended.  They needed me to show them which ones were theirs.  So my solution- I made hangers into dividers.  Now they know exactly what shirts are theirs (and my husband knows exactly where to put them when he folds them!).
#ad Easy-and-simple-ways-to-organize-your-laundry-room #TotalBleachControl (27)
They were really easy to make and only took a few minutes.  I cut a piece of fabric 13"x 12".  The 13" in going to be how wide it is and the 12" will be folded in half.
#ad Easy-and-simple-ways-to-organize-your-laundry-room #TotalBleachControl (2)
First I hemmed the edges along the top and the bottom.  Then I folded it in half and sewed the sides together.
#ad Easy-and-simple-ways-to-organize-your-laundry-room #TotalBleachControl (3)
Then I placed the kid sized hanger onto the fabric to see where to cut a little slit for the hanger to go through.
#ad Easy-and-simple-ways-to-organize-your-laundry-room #TotalBleachControl (4)
I cut everyone's name out of heat transfer vinyl and then ironed it on.  Super easy and fun!  I love that it brightens up the room too!#ad Easy-and-simple-ways-to-organize-your-laundry-room #TotalBleachControl (7)
Aren't they fun?  The kids were so excited to see them!
#ad Easy-and-simple-ways-to-organize-your-laundry-room #TotalBleachControl (26)
The next thing I did was give everyone their own bucket for pants, shorts, socks and underwear.  I used to create piles but they didn't stay separated very long and it became a big mess.  The buckets are so easy to make, just put some vinyl on them and then you are good to go.
#ad Easy-and-simple-ways-to-organize-your-laundry-room #TotalBleachControl (20)
When I was doing laundry my 4-year-old  asked if she could help me fold.  She was excited to be able to put them into the buckets.  She also enjoyed trying to throw the clothes into the buckets in the back, it was pretty fun and entertaining, like playing a game.
#ad Easy-and-simple-ways-to-organize-your-laundry-room #TotalBleachControl (10)
Once the load was done, she took her bucket and put away her clothes and brought back an empty bucket.  My 8-year-old asked me today if he could put away his clothes, he NEVER does that!  So I think that personalized buckets worked!!  Now they don't have any excuses for not knowing whether or not they have clothes to put away, making my life a lot easier. Woohoo!
#ad Easy-and-simple-ways-to-organize-your-laundry-room #TotalBleachControl (9)
Another thing that I did to help get my laundry room in order is pick up some new bleach products from Clorox®.  I picked up the Clorox® Bleach Packs™ and  Clorox® Bleach Crystals™ because liquid bleach really worries me, I'm always nervous that some might splash out of the washer and get onto my clothes.
#ad Easy-and-simple-ways-to-organize-your-laundry-room #TotalBleachControl (18)
Luckily for me these new Clorox® Bleach Packs™ aren't like liquid bleach, they are water activated so you don't have to worry about it getting onto your clothes.  Woohoo!   They come in packs and you just toss them onto the drum of the washer with your whites. They are easy and MESS FREE!!  I'm so excited to start using bleach again (at least more often) because my white clothes aren't looking as white as I would like them too.  Plus these are Clorox® bleach products, so I know I can trust that they will do the job.
#ad Easy-and-simple-ways-to-organize-your-laundry-room #TotalBleachControl (11)
I got the new Clorox® Bleach Packs™ and  Clorox® Bleach Crystals™ at Walmart.  They are with the other laundry detergents and bleach.

Tie Dye Ombre Technique: DIY Ombre Tie Dyed Shirt Refashion

This post is brought to you by I Love To Create and Blueprint Social. The opinions are my own.

It's no secret that I love color.  I just love it, especially bold and bright colors.  Any time that I can turn something plain into something fun and bright, I do it.  Just like this plain white t-shirt.  It's a size large in men's and as you can tell, it's pretty boring.  So I decided to take some tie dye to it and make it a fun, ombre shirt.  I was so impressed by how well it turned out that I might make myself a couple more, in purple and green (maybe even yellow!).  This shirt makes for a perfect summer shirt and I know I'm going to be wearing it a lot!

This is how I made it:
I first took the white shirt and refashioned it.  I took one of my favorite styled shirts (I like how it fits on me) and then I traced around the shirt.  I would recommend turning the white shirt inside out before doing this.  Since the white fabric is cotton and it might shrink, I made sure to make it bigger than the teal shirt.

#ad DIY-Ombre-Tie-Dye-Shirt-Refashion (4)
I cut it out (this is when I would have been good to have it inside out, so the seams were already lined up for sewing).
#ad DIY-Ombre-Tie-Dye-Shirt-Refashion (5)
I then turned it inside out and sewed the top and the sides, leaving the neck and arm holes untouched (for now).
#ad DIY-Ombre-Tie-Dye-Shirt-Refashion (6)
I then hemmed the neck and arm holes.  The shirt is now done!
#ad DIY-Ombre-Tie-Dye-Shirt-Refashion (7)

Now time for the fun part!!!  The tie dyeing! I used the Tulip one-step kit, it was great to use and the colors are so much fun.  I just used the blue but I guarantee I will be using the other ones soon!  It comes with gloves, so it can be mess free!!

#ad DIY-Ombre-Tie-Dye-Shirt-Refashion (9)

Using a spray bottle, I made the whole shirt (front and back) damp.
#ad DIY-Ombre-Tie-Dye-Shirt-Refashion (10)
Then I took the blue dye and added water to it (that's all you have to do) and then shook it up.
#ad DIY-Ombre-Tie-Dye-Shirt-Refashion (11)
I then put the dye directly onto the shirt, just at the bottom.  That's where I wanted it to be the darkest.  If you want it to be dark on the top, put the dye on the top.
#ad DIY-Ombre-Tie-Dye-Shirt-Refashion (16)
Then using a large paint brush and a bowl of water, I moved the dye up the shirt.  You just have to put the paint brush in the water and then put it onto the dark around and move the brush up the shirt.  It's so cool and so easy to do!
#ad DIY-Ombre-Tie-Dye-Shirt-Refashion (17)
Continue up the shirt until all of it is covered.  You don't have to do the back because the dye is strong enough that it goes through it.  Pretty awesome, huh?

#ad DIY-Ombre-Tie-Dye-Shirt-Refashion (19)
Let it dry for 6-8 hours.  I let it lay there for about 3 hours and then I put it on a hanger to dry overnight.  Then wash it and dry it like you would regularly.  The color doesn't fade and it still looks great!
#ad DIY-Ombre-Tie-Dye-Shirt-Refashion (26)
I paired it with my ombre necklace and now I'm ready for the day!  It's so much fun and I love it!!
IMG_4362
I loved my shirt so much that I made my daughter one too, and she is so excited about it (you can tell by her huge smile!).  I made it the same way as mine and I just used a white t-shirt that I got in a pack of 3 (in the boys section).

Thinking about doing some tie dyeing?  Check this out!

Wholesome Snacks for Kids at the Park

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Yoplait®. The opinions and text are all mine.

It is the middle of summer and my kids are starting to get really anxious and ready to get out of the house. We have had some really HOT days here and now it's starting to cool down and the kids want to get out of the house. I want them to get some energy out, somewhere else besides my house :). So we usually hit a park or splash pad. It never fails the second we get there, someone says that they are hungry. So this summer I am going to be prepared and pack some wholesome snacks for the kids (and me!).

#ad Wholesome-Snacks-For-The-Park

Yogurt is one of our most favorite snacks. We just love it! We especially love Yoplait® Gogurt®. We get them in the big sizes and constantly have some in the house because it is a go to snack at our house. Yoplait® has a huge variety of yogurt at Walmart- you can get original, light, and Greek in addition to the Gogurt®.

IMG_4059

We LOVE to put them in the freezer. It's the best because they stay nice and cold and when we go places (or put them into school lunches) they thaw just a little bit and they taste amazing. If you've never had a frozen Gogurt® you HAVE TO!

#ad Wholesome-Snacks-For-The-Park (1)

I paired the Gogurt® with some grapes (because they are an easy fruit that's not super messy) and then some bottled water to stay hydrated.

#ad Wholesome-Snacks-For-The-Park (3)

I put them into my park bag and we were ready to go to the splash pad.

#ad Wholesome-Snacks-For-The-Park (8)

My little guy didn't even go into the water, the first thing he did was go straight for the Gogurt®. He loves them so much! I love giving them to him.

IMG_4063

We had such a great time at the park and I was very happy that my kids got some energy out and they also got some wholesome snacks in them!

What kind of snacks do you like to bring to the pack?

17 Refreshing Summer Time Drink Recipes {MMM #286 Block Party}

It's HOT!!!  We are currently in our third week of at least 100 degree weather!  I am not one to complain about warmth and sunshine and any excuse to sit by the pool...but sometimes you just need to cool down. My favorite way is with some refreshing summer drinks. My drink of choice is ice cold water, but sometimes you want a little sweetness with your cold drink, for those times try one or more of these yummy choices.

17 Refreshing Summertime Drinks, some virgin...some not so virgin. Something for everybody!
I don't drink, but I know I have readers who do, so for you...here are some alcoholic ones that were linked up:

I am so in love with my new completed space! Needless to say it has taken all my time and energy and resources and cash to finish this room, so I don't have a lot more to share...but it's worth it!
