DIY Wood Settlers of Catan Board Made with xTool M1

Settlers of Catan is one of our favorite family games. We play it all the time and the kids really enjoy playing it with us.  Since we have more than 4 people in our family, we have the extended version of Catan.  To make the game even more special to us, I decided that it would be fun to make our own wooden Settlers of Catan board with my xTool M1.  When I started the project, I didn’t think it would turn out as good as it did.  But once again, the xTool M1 preformed beautifully and cut the wood out better than I expected. It still amazes me what this machine can do and that I was able to make a DIY Settlers of Catan board out of several pieces of plywood.  It’s a crazy awesome laser cutter, that is for sure!

Layered Wood Farm Sign- How to Engrave and Cut Wood at the Same Time

A couple months ago my husband asked me to make him something to display at his work.  I had had my xTool M1 for about a month and was making all the things and he wanted me to come up with something for him.  After seeing the layered wooden plaques I made for the band kids, he decided that he wanted something like that, but bigger and more detailed.  I’m not going to lie, my husband was one of my pickiest and hardest clients I have ever had. He wanted me to use real pictures of the farm and cut plants that looked realistic.  He made me really think outside the box and really test out the xTool and what it could do.  Even though designing this layered wood farm sign was a little tricky at first, I absolutely love the outcome.  It looks amazing and I love all the details in it. I’m grateful that my husband gave me a challenge, because I learned some new tricks along the way.

For the past couple months, we have been wanting to transform our backyard into a more grown up/teenager space.  The kids are growing up quickly and so we wanted more of a hang out spot than play area.  We got rid of our playhouse and that gave us more space in the backyard. We wanted to add onto our patio to give us more area to hang out on. We decided that the best way to add to the patio is to build a patio with pavers.  I love how much room we have now and how much better our back yard looks with it.

Today is my parent’s anniversary.  They were married on St. Patrick’s Day 61 years ago today! It is the first anniversary since my dad’s passing, so I wanted to make something special for my mom.  I know that it is going to be a hard day for her, so I wanted to make something that will give her hope and put a smile on her face. My parents took pictures at the Boise Temple one week before my dad died, so I wanted to use the picture from that. I added the Boise Temple to the frame and engraved the wooden picture frame to make it extra special.
