Reversible Christmas and Fall Farmhouse Pillow
Is there such a thing as too many pillows? I think not! I love making different pillow covers for the holidays because they are super easy to change out and easy to store! Since farmhouse is so popular right now, I thought that I would make a pillow that would love great with farmhouse decor. Plus it will look great with just pumpkins! This farm fresh pumpkins pillow is great for your porch or your couch, either way you have it, it’s going to be cute!
Update- Since I love reversible decor, I added a Christmas design to the other side!
Here is a quick video to show you the process of making it :).
This is how I made it,
I started with a pillow cover and then some black and orange smooth heat transfer vinyl. You can always make your own case too if you wanted to.
I cut the design out with my Silhouette CAMEO. I mirrored the image and then cut the heat transfer with the shiny/plastic side on the mat. The words that are in the circle are a little tricky, so when you mirror the image, do each piece horizontally because if you don’t it will flip it weird. I made up two different cut files, one is regular and one is flipped. You can get the files here:
I then weeded the vinyl and cut the orange pieces and arrange it onto the pillow cover.
Now time to press it onto the pillow cover. You can do this with an iron too. I used a heat press and set the temperature at 305 degrees. For every layer I pressed it for 15 seconds. Before starting, I pressed the cover to get the wrinkles and moisture out of the fabric. I put on the black pieces first. I pressed them and then took off the plastic while it was still warm. Then I put on the orange pieces and covered the design with a cover sheet, to protect it from the press.
Here it is with everything pressed in.
Now for the other side, the Christmas side. I used the same kind of heat transfer vinyl but this time in black, green and bright red.
I weeded the vinyl the same way as before. You can get the designs here:
I pressed the design in the same way as the pumpkin side, used the heat press cover sheet to protect the design.
Here is the Christmas side all done.
I added a pillow into the cover and that’s it!! I put it out on my porch and it will go great with my pumpkin patch sign (which is also reversible).
Here is a closer view, I love it! This one would actually look REALLY good with paint instead of heat transfer vinyl, it would give a nice rustic look to it. To see how to use paint on pillows, check out this post.
And here it is flipped to the Christmas side.
Here is a close up of the design, love it!
