Father’s Day Gift Idea: Handprint Tie

June 6, 2014 by Kaysi 12 Comments

Father’s Day is next Sunday, are you ready??  If you’re not, this is a SUPER EASY gift idea and you can get it done in about 30 minutes!  I saw the idea here, sadly it was a bad pin that didn’t go to the website (I hate it when that happens…).  But it’s a great idea.  I always make a shirt for my husband but he can’t wear it to church on Father’s Day, so the thought of having a handprint tie is great!  Oh and I made him a shirt this year too, it’s coming soon and I really like how it turned out, so you’d better come back and check it out too 🙂

This is how I made this:
I traced all of my kids’ hands on some vinyl.

Then I cut it out with scissors.

I placed the vinyl onto a white satin tie.  I pressed it down good so the paint wouldn’t leak through.

Then using a sponge brush, I put the paint onto the tie.  I used fabric paint and did a dabbing motion.  I didn’t swipe it because it would get under the vinyl.

Before the paint dried, I took off the vinyl.

Doesn’t it look so cool?  I love it!

Here is a close up, the lines look really clean and crisp.

And that’s it!  I told you it was super easy!!  I can’t wait for my husband to get it and wear it to church on Sunday.
