Scrapbooking.
There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about how far behind I am. When I started this blog 2 years ago, that is what I did. I would scrapbook and make cards. At least weekly. But because of this blog, I my scrapbooking got pushed back to the back burner. I discovered that there was much more to crafts than just scrapbooking. I learned how to sew and make home decor. And the best part of those crafts, once I finished them, I was done. I didn’t have to make something unless I really wanted to (and of course I wanted to make more). I’m funny with crafts, when I want to make something, I can do it super quick. But the second I “have” to make something, I struggle with it. That is what happened with scrapbooking, it turned into a have to instead of a want to. And so, I got further and further behind.
Back in the day, I used to be one top of it and would only be one or two months behind at a time and would easily get caught up. Not this time, I was 1 1/2 years behind, on four different scrapbooks (because each of my children have their own). And more than 3 years behind on mine. So on my birthday weekend, I finally just sat down and scrapbooked. And you know what, I enjoyed it. I have missed it. I love being able to look at the pictures in a book. I was so shocked by how small my boys all looked in these pictures 1 1/2 years ago.
In the two days of scrapbooking, I was able to make 52 pages (26 2-page layouts). They are VERY simple. I didn’t care. I just wanted to get them done because they look a lot cuter in a book than in a file on the computer (because I don’t even print out pictures until I plan on scrapbooking them). I made sure that what was important was on the page, the pictures and journaling. That’s all that I cared about with these pages. Some actually turned out cute, others just look like I put them on the paper and added a strip of color here and there :). The best part, I’m now caught up to August of 2011! So now I’m only 6 months behind!
For this one, I just cut out some orange circles and drew lines on them. Then I used black vinyl from Expressions Vinyl for my title.
I love packets of decorative paper that go together!! Just a couple of strips of paper for some colors, some stars and then white vinyl cut out with my CAMEO. I like simple 🙂
One thing I did a lot with these pages is cut the pictures the same size. I had a lot of pictures and I really didn’t want to have to do more pages. So the pictures that are cut to 4×4 are great 🙂
And this one, super easy. Used white vinyl. I love using the vinyl because it’s so much easier to apply than card stock plus I was running out of my taper runner anyway. And it’s so much quicker because it’s already lined up. I got the pumpkin image from the Silhouette store. I also added a little ribbon on the middle pictures, just to have them stand out a little bit.

I struggle with this too! Sometimes I put too much pressure on myself about how far behind I am, etc. But I enjoy scrapping! I scrapped for the first time in months on Sunday and then again on Monday. I finished up some pages that needed titles and made two layouts (I'm a little slow!). It felt good. I'm in the same boat as you as far as other crafts too, btw!

My wife started scrapbooking and then discovered couponing and you can guess what happended to her scrapbook. She is a hardcore coupon fanatic and I am never going to ask her what happened to her scrapbook. She was complaining about going through the "change" and I asked her what she wanted to change into. She said rich and I said I would be happy with "human being". So I know I am not going to ask her what happened to the scrapbook.

They turned out really cute! I won't even tell you how far behind I am in scrap booking! :). Let's just say you're way ahead of me…

These layouts turned out great! When I paper scrapbook I try to keep things very simple and put more pictures on a page than anything. I don't scrapbook a lot either, if I do it's usually digital!! I am about 5 years behind!! Wish I could take 2 days and get mostly caught up. I think mine would take about a month or more of doing nothing else!! But I'm a perfectionist. I don't think I'll ever get caught up and I think I'm ok with that:) Good for you though! That's a good idea to use the vinyl and the silhouette!! I never would've thought of that!

Very nice!
I don't get "behind" because I don't scrapbook chronologically 🙂 I just do whatever layout I'm in the mood to do. If if wasn't for it, I'd probably be several years behind, but this way I just made a layout of last Christmas ( even though I'm still haven't done my 8 years old DD christening 😉

Wow, good for you!!! I just spent hours at my annual weekend crop but only caught up on part of a year, being 2008…I'm still pretty far behind. I was doing some special pictures though, I do plan on making some pages go much faster!!! Your pages are wonderful and you are right!! It's about the journaling and the story of the time. Hugs, Lisa

Love the basketball one. Way to go on only being 6 months behind.
Your sentiments are how I've been feeling so I'm not going to do Scrappy Saturdays for a while just so I can do my personal scrapbooking for me.
Thanks for linking up to Scrappy 2nd Saturdays. Featuring this!
