Color is really popular right now and I’m loving it!! I love color!! Yellow seems to be everywhere, so I decided that I wanted some yellow sandals. I have three pairs of white sandals, didn’t think I needed that many of white, so I made one pair yellow 🙂
This is how I made it:
I took some white sandals
Using acrylic yellow paint, I started painting them.
I put on three coats, to make sure that they were covered really well.
Using a hole punch, I punched a lot of circles out of white vinyl from Expressions Vinyl
I started putting the circles onto the shoes.
Then I put them on all over. Since the outside of the sandal will be seen when I wear them, I put several on the outer edge.
To protect the vinyl and seal them onto the paint, I put a layer of mod podge on to the sandals
And now I have a fun pair of yellow sandals!!!
Aren’t they so much fun! I’m excited to wear them with a fun outfit 🙂

I had several people ask to do an update after a few weeks of wearing these sandals. You can find the update here.
Genius! I never thought of painting the sandals I don't wear, you've saved me some moolah now, thanks! xx
Oh my gosh, they are so cute!! The idea of using vinyl for the polka dots was brilliant!
Ohhh.. how cute!! And so simple! What a great idea 🙂
Those are gorgeous, love them!

How awesome is that! Handmade without "looking" handmade!
LOVE!
Hopping over from Sugar Bee Crafts Link Party:)
They look great! Never would've thought you made them if I didn't see it here!
Have a great week-
These are super cute! Thanks for the tutorial!
Afteryou wear them a few times, can you postabout how they held up?
For you Chelsea, I will. But just because you asked 🙂
This is such a nice project and great idea thanks for sharing
I love how these came out but I am wondering how comfortable they will be in the heat of summer with no socks on. If you feet get hot and sweaty will the ModPodge be uncomfortable? Will the paint hold up? I am just curious because they look fantastic! Have you ever done this before and do you know how they wear?
This is FABULOUS!!! I love white sandals.. but unfortunately I only own one pair… once I find another I will try this. hehe BTW, you paint your toe nails the exact way my girls have me paint them.. alternating colors hehe
Thanks for sharing at The DIY Dreamer.. From Dream To Reality!! xoxo
Super cute and really great job! Love them!
Kaysi, I absolutely love your sunshine-y sandals! xoxo Malia
Kaysi, your sandals are adorable! Such a creative idea.
They look wonderful, I just hope that the paint will not make them slippery 🙂
Hi Kaysi!
I Love them! So cute!
I am a flip-flop, yellow {heart}er myself 🙂
Thanks for sharing!

how cute – and it looks simple enough even for me:)
You are a genious, what a cute idea to paint your sandals. You'll have to give us an update about how the paint lasts and if they're hotter with the paint on. Love the multi-colored toes. Really sets off the sandals. Hey why not paint sandals?
Oh my goodness. Kaysi, this is incredible. Why have I never thought to use acrylic paint to paint my sandals?! And the hole punching idea was a great one! Thanks for sharing at oopsey daisy!
OMG I LOVE THIS! Great idea!!
Very cute, and I just ordered a top that these would look great with, can I borrow? LOL just kidding, love the color and fun polka dots.

That was creative! I have around 5 to 6 pairs of tan sandals here in my shoe rack, and I guess it's not a big deal to recreate one of them like what you did.
This is such a creative idea!! I am definitely going to try this!! Even more reason for me to go pick up that vinyl. There really are so many neat ideas to use it with!! Thank u so much for showing this fun and easy tutorial!!
What great ideas you've given me for so many things. Could do this on a purse also. Thanks for the great idea and how to. Think I'll leave the modpodge off the sole, I'd be all over the place. Princess Grace here falls off her flipflops.
A few years ago while wearing a pair of slip on sandals I tripped on a crack in a sidewalk, fell and broke my knee, had to have it replaced after awhile. See why I said I"m princess grace? lol
