I’m sure that you’ve all seen freezer paper stenciling. It’s been around for quite some time. I don’t know why I haven’t tried it until now, but I’m hooked!! I love it and it’s so easy but so cute! Walmart had a ton of $1 shirts, so I’m making some for the younger boys in my ward! 🙂
What little boy doesn’t just love trains?!
So here’s the one that I made for my little boy. I got the idea for this one here.
I didn’t have any freezer paper (weird, I know) but I have a whole roll of contact paper. I figured that it would be nice to have the adhesive stick to the shirt while I was working and it seemed to just fine. Right before I started painting, I thought, maybe I’ll do a tutorial, so sorry that I just jump right in.
This is how I made it:
1) I cut out a design onto contact paper with my Silhouette. All of the images were bought from the online store.
2) I then removed the actually ship and letters, leaving the stencil and placed it onto the shirt. Make sure you have cardboard or something inside the shirt, I’ve made this mistake before! Place the middle of the letters (like O) onto the shirt also.
3) Now for the fun part. You can do lots of colors or just one. I did 2. I started with blue acrylic and painted the ship and the letters. I did a dabbing motion for most of it.
Here’s the blue painted on
4) I place the spaceship cut out onto the shirt and removed the holes from it.
5) Then I painted that and the flame yellow.
Remove the stencil and that’s it!! So cute and easy!
Here’s a couple more that I did:
Here’s one I made for my husband, he’s an accountant
Just a little side note, no matter how excited you are about the shirt, make sure the paint is dry before you put it onto your child… 🙂
If you’ve done this before, I always love looking at them, so leave a link!

Love the shirts! Contact paper is even easier than freezer paper, becaue you don't have to pull out the iron. Thanks for sharing.

Love these! Such a great way to dress up a $1.00 shirt. Wonderful

Those are super cute! I've never had a problem with my freezer paper not staying stuck to the shirt while I'm painting, but that one comment is right–it is one more thing to pull out.
I've done a ton, and they're so fun. Here are my most recent ones:

what settings do you use when you cut your contact paper with your sil? Do you use the mat when cutting it?
I LOOOVE these and want to do all of them, but am having a really hard time figuring out how to cut contact paper with the silhouette.

I have the same question as the poster above – what settings do you use to cut contact paper with your Silhouette? Love your site – so many great ideas!
