Spring Table Runner and Lily Centerpiece

March 27, 2013 by Kaysi 11 Comments

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of iBulb for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love the look of fresh flowers in my house!  They really can brighten up a room!  I was so excited to see some Easter lilies at our local grocery store (yes in the town with only 300 people!).   I  wanted to put them on my kitchen table until it was warm enough to plant them outside.  So I made a fun and bright table runner and made a centerpiece with the lilies and some plastic eggs.
This is how I made the table runner:
I took some fun fabrics and cut each piece 7″x 17″.  I cut two pieces of each fabric.
I place the back sides of each fabric together and sewed them together with a 5/8″ seam.  This is opposite of what you would do normally.  I wanted the seam on the outside.
This is what the fabric looks like sewn together and with the seam on the outside.
I wanted to make a raggy affect, so I cut the seams about every 1/2 inch.  When it gets washed it frays and looks raggy and super cute!
I then cut 5 strips that were 3″ wide for the bias tape on the outside of the runner.
I then ironed the strip.  First I folded over one side and ironed it about 1/2 inch in.  Then I did the same thing for the other side.  Then finally I folded the strip in half and ironed it.
I placed the bias tape over the sides of the runner and then sewed it all around the whole thing.
I then placed the fun runner on my table. I love how it looks!
I added the lily onto the runner and then put some plastic eggs and yellow grass in some vases.
I love how bright and cheery it is.  And I love how the lily looks.  Fresh flowers are just great for freshening up and brightening up a room!
Lilies are great flowers because you can enjoy them inside for a little while and then you can enjoy them outside too!  Much better than getting roses that die in a week.  There are so many great colors too and they are just beautiful flowers!  They are great for any occasion, but I especially love them in the spring time!  It’s so nice that you can get them at grocery stores, garden centers and flowers shops.   For more ideas about lily arrangements, go here.  And here is a Pinterest board filled with inspiration.

So cute Kaysi! I love the runner! And I love Easter Lillies too! But my face flower that you can put inside then plant outside is the hydrangea (I know I spelled that wrong!) They are so colorful! Happy Easter!
