Minecraft Creeper Dresser with DecoArt Chalk Paint

July 31, 2014 by Kaysi 1 Comment

Disclosure: I was given the paint to try out, all ideas, opinions and content are 100% my own.
My boys’ Minecraft room is coming together nicely.  It’s so fun to see all the different decorations coming together.  I bought this dresser the first week that I was here in Washington (so two months ago).  I loved how it looked, but it needed to have some color and a little work.  I ended up getting it for only $10 and it’s in good shape, so I was happy with it.

I have always wanted to try out the chalk paint and let me tell you, it’s awesome!!  It’s just so nice and love how it looks!  My favorite thing is that it only took two coats of paint (instead of the usually 3) and I didn’t have to prime.

I got some fun colors from DecoArt.  The only that I used for the dresser were carbon, relic and fortune.  The teal and white are everlasting and treasure.

First thing I did with the dresser is take off the horrible stickers.  They were so old and stuck on there.  She even had Precious Moments stickers on there.  Once those were off, I took off the handles and spray painted them black.  Then I taped the drawers and put on a coat of the carbon paint.  This is what it looked like after one coat.  Once it dried, I did another coat.

Then I painted all the drawers fortune green.  I actually added a touch of the everlasting (white paint) to make it not as dark.  Worked like a charm.  Once it was dry, I taped the face of the creeper.

To make sure the tape was sealed down, I did a quick coat of paint with the green paint around the edges of the tape.

Then using the relic color, I painted the face.

I took off the tape and put the handles back on.  I love it!  It looks so great in their room!

And I love the finish of the chalk paint.
