The kitchen is the heart and soul of a house. I think all of us dream of a dream kitchen, at least I know that I do! When I dream about my dream kitchen I think about beautiful white cabinets with ample room for all my pots and pans and dishes, a gorgeous gray granite with a big island that has enough space for all 5 of my kids. Plus enough counter space that I have make many home made meals or cookies without having to clean up one area over and over again. And of course I would have some fun colored pendants lights over the island to give it some character and personality. And I would love to have a soft colored tile for flooring. It would be fabulous!! That is my dream kitchen. What would your dream kitchen look like?
In my current house I will never get my “dream kitchen” but I am sure getting closer and closer to what I want in a kitchen. My kitchen is smaller that I want and but it is functioning and pretty soon I will get a very close version of my dream kitchen. There are so many things that you can do to update your kitchen to make it more like your dream kitchen. I want to share with you what I have done and what I plan to do to make my kitchen more like my dream kitchen.
Here is the before picture- that is what it looked like when we first moved in. It’s a nice kitchen for sure, it’s definitely a functioning kitchen and it fits some of the things that I want in a kitchen, just not all of it. So I did some update for it.
After about 3 months of living here, this is what it looked it. I gave it a little bit of color, added some vinyl and a fun mirror onto the wall. We kept it like this for about a year and it was fine but after looking at for a year, it was time to get closer to what I want in a kitchen.
Gradually we started to add some things to it, like a pretty back splash with stone and glass tiles and a new dining table. And I can’t forget the fun colored pendants lights (that was on my dream kitchen list!).
Once we updated the back splash it really made the kitchen look fancier and so much nicer, so to keep the theme going, we decided to switch out the faucet and the get some new knobs and pulls.
Soon I hope to paint out kitchen cabinets white and then it will be super close to being the kitchen I want. So far we have done so much and it has made a huge different but it hasn’t put a huge dent into our budget because we did things by ourselves. Just doing these few things really does make a huge difference and I know that painting the cabinets will make a huge difference too!
