Easy Kindle Cover: Book Cover Kindle Case

Nowadays its all about the gizmos to kids. These handheld tablets,
computers, and phones are a tiny device which gives them access to pretty much
everything! Everything means unlimited educational content but also unlimited
trouble. Helping your kids learn how to use devices correctly belongs in
another article, but this one is about protecting them. To have anything from a
Kindle (our choice) to an iPad in the home takes a significant financial
investment and considering their iffy durability, the buttery fingers of
children can be their greatest threat.

For the longest time I have been wanting to make a case/cover for my son’s Kindle.  We bought some for it online but they can’t play their games with them because they overlap the screen and in order to charge them, they have to come out of the case.  It’s super annoying and really defeats the purpose of having a case because they have to take the Kindle out to enjoy it.  I was browsing online and saw that someone made a cover out of a book cover.  I loved that idea because it gives the Kindle more protection than just fabric.  I was super excited to see that I had everything on hand and it was easy to make!

This is how I made it:

I used an old book from my husband’s college days (doesn’t accounting ethics sound wonderful?), some fabric, elastic and a cereal box. 

First I took the pages out of the book.  That was the hardest part, they were in there good.  Eventually I just ripped out the pages and then wet down the rest of the paper and scraped it out as much as I could.  I just wanted a flat surface. 

I cut out two pieces of the box.  I made them the size of the cover.

Then I glued some fabric onto the boxes. 

I put some elastic onto the corners of one of the sides.  I made sure to glue them down really good. 

Finally I glued the fabric onto the book cover.  I used plenty of glue to make sure that it sticks to the book cover. 

And that’s it!  It fits the Kindle in there perfectly. 

The spine has accounting ethics on it, so I put some washi tape on it.  I think it makes it look better anyway.
