Father’s Day Gift Idea: Handprint Tie

Father's Day is next Sunday, are you ready??  If you're not, this is a SUPER EASY gift idea and you can get it done in about 30 minutes!  I saw the idea here, sadly it was a bad pin that didn't go to the website (I hate it when that happens...).  But it's a great idea.  I always make a shirt for my husband but he can't wear it to church on Father's Day, so the thought of having a tie is great!  Oh and I made him a shirt this year too, it's coming soon and I really like how it turned out, so you'd better come back and check it out too :)

This is how I made this:
I traced all of my kids' hands on some vinyl.

Then I cut it out with scissors.

I placed the vinyl onto a white satin tie.  I pressed it down good so the paint wouldn't leak through.

Then using a sponge brush, I put the paint onto the tie.  I used fabric paint and did a dabbing motion.  I didn't swipe it because it would get under the vinyl.

Before the paint dried, I took off the vinyl.

Doesn't it look so cool?  I love it!

Here is a close up, the lines look really clean and crisp.

And that's it!  I told you it was super easy!!  I can't wait for my husband to get it and wear it to church on Sunday.

we made this and it turned out so cute! But the fabric paint says to heat set with an iron - did you do that?
