My baby is now 4 months old and I am starting to lose the baby weight, but I still haven’t lost it all. I’m in that “in between” stage. I don’t fit in my regular clothes but I don’t want to buy a ton of new clothes that will only work for a couple of months. So it’s time to start some refashions! I don’t have to spend money on new clothes, but I can have “new clothes”.
This is how I made it:
I took a regular t-shirt. I got this one at a craft store for $2. I just loved the color.
I flipped it inside out and then took the side in a little bit, to give it a more flattering shape. I drew a line and then sewed right on the line on both sides.
Next I took some 1/4″ elastic and sewed that into the sides. This is what gives it that awesome gathered sides. I cut the elastic shorter than the length of the sides. Using my longest straight stitch, I sewed the elastic in the sides, I stretched the elastic as I was sewing it on.
Here is what it looks like after the it is sewed on. The elastic automatically gathers the fabric.
Then I cut off the neck line and hemmed it down.
Then I made the sleeves smaller. I just folded the sleeves in and hemmed them.
And that’s it! It was super easy to make!
And here is how it looks on. I loved the gathered sides!
I would love it if you followed along.
