Do you ever get a crazy idea in your head and really want to try it out but are a little nervous about it? That was me with this project. I had this idea of painting my mud room rug. I was really afraid to do it because I was afraid that I would ruin the rug but then one day I just decided to try it out. And I’m so glad that I did, I love how it turned out! I used an older rug and one that I liked but didn’t love, just in case it didn’t work out.
Here is the rug before. I bought it for my house in Kansas, it matched perfectly there. Not so much here, I have changed the colors up in my mud room. And because I am obsessed with matching, I really wanted it to be the same colors as the rest of the room.
This is how I did it:
I just took some regular acrylic paint and very carefully painted the parts I wanted a different color.
I continued to paint and changed up the colors. It took quite a bit of yellow to cover the blue.
I used a dabbing motion and tried to get lots of paint on the rug to cover up the other color.
It really didn’t take too long and I love the outcome! I did this about 3 months ago and it’s still holding up too!

That is a great idea! Did the paint make it stiff? I love the way it pops!
