Silhouette promotion, review and GIVEAWAY!! (closed)

January 17, 2011 by Kaysi 447 Comments

I’m so excited for today!! I have been so excited for this day for a long time, keeping it in has made me want to burst! Before I get ahead of myself, let’s start with an awesome promotion that Silhouette is having this week.
Silhouette Electronic Cutting Tool
This week, January 17-22 Silhouette is having an awesome promotion on premium vinyl and their Silhouette machine. You can get the machine, two rolls of premium vinyl, 1 roll of transfer tape and a home decor CD all for $225!! That is a $395 value, wow!! Just enter the code “SIMPLE” when you check out. Don’t need the machine? Well their premium vinyl is 25% this week too, just put in “SIMPLE”.
The premium vinyl is awesome, it’s strong enough to use it outside but gentle enough to use it indoors!
Here’s what I did with it, put my family on my car!
Now, for what I think about the Silhouette machine. I have had it for about 3 weeks now and I absolutely LOVE it!! I’ve had a CriCut for six months now and am planning on selling it because I love the Silhouette so much more! Why you ask? Well here’s what I love about the Silhouette:
-It’s made for the computer, so I can use all of my super cute fonts with it. Because the program is made by Silhouette the program is super user friendly and when I have a problem I can just go to the Silhouette website. It’s so easy that I have figured things out in minutes and I really don’t know that much about computers.
-I love that you can buy images off of their online store and they are only $.99. I can handle spending a couple of dollars rather than $40 or more on a cartridge.
-Using vinyl with it! Since it doesn’t use a mat when it cuts it, what it looks like on the computer, it’s going to cut like that. I don’t have to transfer it to another paper and worry about the letters being straight or not.
-I love how the program tells me what blade I need to use and how it automatically sets the speed and thickness based off of what I am cutting.
Overall I have just loved it! I have done more with it for my scrapbooking in the three weeks than I ever did with my CriCut.
Here are a few things that I have created with it:
Premium Vinyl:
Valentine’s subway art

Family on my car

Heat Transfer Paper:
Coat Rack

Place mat bags
Boys’ shirts
Paper:
Now for what you and me have been waiting for. The GIVEAWAY!! I’m so excited about this that I can’t even contain myself. One lucky winner is going to win a Silhouette machine!!
Awesome huh?!
You must be a follower of Keeping it Simple using Google Friend Connect to enter this giveaway. If you’re not, just click the follow button on the right side bar.
There are two ways to enter:
1) Go to Silhouette website and tell me what would be the first thing that you do if you won.
2) Blog about this giveaway on your blog and give me the link
Please leave a separate comment for each entries.

This giveaway will end on January 22nd at 12:00pm (cst). The winner will be announced shortly after.
Please leave your email address with your comment so I can contact you!
Good luck to everyone that enters! Remember that the promotion ends the same day, so don’t forget to get stocked up on some vinyl!

Oh my word! I just spent about a half-hour looking at different things that I could create with a silhouette cutting tool! My friend has something similar and I love it… LOVE.

So, what would I do FIRST? This is hard – everything. I would probably use it for home decor on signs or for enhancing my scrapbook – I'm a bit scrapbook crazy… 🙂

    FANTASTIC giveaway!

Thankfully, I have visited their site before, so I knew what I wnated to do. I would love to use the vinyl to stencil, do sayings for the wall, and personalize/organize my crafts. dmj53(at)hotmail(dot)com

The thing I would probably use it on first would be to get caught up on some scrapbooking that I have really been neglecting (there are just too many fun projects to work on).

I'm also super keen to try the glass etching. A stylish monogram on a glass would be a fab gift for someone.

The first thing I would do is tell YOU Thank you…then I'd go over to the Silhouette blog/site and tell THEM thank you.

Then when the machine got to my house, I'd start by making a sign that says, "Today, I'm going to be happier than a bird with a french fry." I don't know why, but that phrase speaks to me. 🙂

After that I think I'd go nutso making shirts for everyone for Valentine's Day (also my birthday).

I went to the Silhouette site and joined it but I couldn't see where I could leave a comment.

The first thing I would do if I won is jump up and down and scream a lot! Then I would want to play with every aspect of it and see how many different kinds of things I could do with it, and of course, I'd blog about all of it and share it with my online crafting groups!

I have seen so many gorgeous cards and scrapbook pages made with this, that would be my primary use … to make those special memories even more beautiful and special.

Thank you for hosting this! I hope I win! I hope I win! I hope I win!

    Hugs,

This is such an awesome chance. The first thing I would do if I won the Silhouette would be to
correct the vinyl family I bought for my car when my 3rd greatgranddaughter hadn't been born yet, so under the baby I had "on the way" put
there, she is now a year old and I really need to update it. Then I would work on some vinyl for all 3 of my greatgranddaughters. One is into
Tinkerbell, one Minnie and Mickey Mouse and one
Elmo, and they all like these on their bedroom walls. Again thank you for the chance to win this awsome machine. http://www.cardsbyme_rak@blogspot.com

What would I do IF I ever won one of these. First thing I would do is jump up and down and cry. I want a NEW Cricut or a NEW cutting machine so bad. I take care of my terminally ill husband and I can't be out of our home for long time so I set and scrapbook and make cards. I have a very old Cricut (I think the very first one every made, first one ever sold) yes that old. I can make do but it may die on me any day. I would be making things like scary.

Thanks for the chance of winning and sharing this with us. I put this on both places.

    Sincerely

I am a new stay-at-home mom, and we could use a little extra income at the moment (who doesn't?). Looking at what you've created and what is possible on the Silhouette site, I think I could create some fantastic items for an Etsy shop…of course I'd have a blast doing it! I think some custom car families would be first-I'm thinking I'd draw a quail or roadrunner family for my birding friends, a frog and tadpole family for me, and quilts on a line for my sister…oh, and t-shirts…I'd better stop before I ruin my keyboard drooling!

I think the question here is what WOULDN'T I use the Silhouette machine for?!
Heat transfers on my kids clothes – first thing I'd do it label all of their stuff for school! Then I'd move on to organization and labeling things in the home, playroom, closets, pantry etc. I'd love to try the glass etching vinyl too.
Then I'd use it for any and all crafts, card making etc.
And of course, I love how you put your family on your car – I would so do that too! How cute!

So fingers and toes are crossed here that you pick me!!

What a great giveaway! I would love to try some vinyl signs. It would save me all the painstaking hours I spend painting on itty bitty words. I don't have the steadiest hand, and painting my favorite sayings on wooden plaques is such a chore! But I love the inspiration and look around the house. The first thing that I would make would be some subway art for my living room. I've seen what awesome things that can be done with a silhouette. I too have a Cricut and have only used it a few times. I only have one cartridge for it because it's just too expensive to get any others. Being a teacher, I would get sooo much use out of this. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
