Instant Pot Teriyaki Chicken- From Frozen to Finished in 30 Minutes

January 9, 2017 by Kaysi 7 Comments

I am loving my new Instant Pot pressure cooker!  If you just got one recently, then you should check out my first post about it, I give a VERY detailed tutorial on how to cook frozen chicken in it! Teriyaki chicken is one of our absolute favorite recipes.  It’s my oldest son’s favorite ever and I think he could eat half of it if I let him :).  I love this recipe because it is easy and I usually have all the ingredients on hand at all times, the only down fall from the old ones was that I would have to thaw out chicken and I suck at remembering to do that in the middle of the day.  Using the Instant Pot I can make it in about 30 minutes and that is with starting with FROZEN chicken!  How awesome is that?!  I especially love this recipe when we are out and about running errands, doing pick ups and drop offs for sports.  It’s nice that it only takes 30 minutes!

Wanna see the Instant Pot in action?  Check out this video I made of this recipe!  Seriously this machine is awesome and I use it all the time (at least 2 times a week)!

Instant Pot Teriyaki Chicken

This meal is a family favorite!  From start to finish, it only takes 30 minutes!

Course Main Course
Cuisine Chinese
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 25 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes
Servings 7 people

Ingredients

  • 1-2 Pounds Chicken breast Chicken can be frozen or raw.
  • 1/3 Cup Soy sauce
  • 1/4 Cup Oil
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Water Only needed if you are using raw chicken.
  • 1/4 tsp Ginger
  • 1/2 tsp Minced garlic

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Mix all the of the sauce ingredients together, everything except the chicken.

  2. Step 2: Add chicken into Instant pot and then pour sauce over it.

  3. Step 3: Add lid and then press poultry button, cook for 15 minutes.

When you put all the ingredients into the Instant Pot pressure cooker and then close and seal the lid and move the handle to “sealing”.
Push the poultry button and then set the time to 15 minutes with normal pressure.
It takes about 5-15 to pressurize and build up steam in the pot and then 15 minutes to cook.  But this is what it looks like when it’s done, it’s so awesome!
And that’s it! I shredded the chicken and then added the sauce back to it.
Serve over rice and enjoy!  (I usually make 2-3 cups of rice to feed my family of 7 with this meal.)
I added some sesame seeds to it and a little more soy sauce, but it tasted amazing!  This is going to be on my menu almost every week I think :).  Every time I make this for my kids, they get so excited!  We eat this whole thing, there is never left overs.

Still aren’t convinced you need an Instant Pot?  Then check out my other recipes for it! I also did a FB live video, so if you want to see the Instant Pot pressure cooker in action, check it out!
