Engraved Stone Coasters- How to Use the Circle Pin Point Positioning on xTool S1
If you are new to laser cutters, check out my beginner’s guide to xTool.
My kids love music and all of them have been in the music programs in their school. My high schoolers have a big fundraiser every year for the the music department. Since I love to make things, I volunteered to make some fun swag bags for a silent auction to earn money for the program. I decided to add lots of Southridge music swag, included these fun stone coasters With the xTool S1, they are super easy to make and turned out so great! There was a recent update in XCS for the xTool S1 pin point positioning. Before the pin point was for a rectangle but now there are 4 options: rectangle, circle, pentagon and line! I was so excited to hear about the update and I’m happy to say that the circle pin point positioning worked out great and is super easy to do!
Here is a quick video to show you how to use the circle pin point positioning and how to make these engraved stone coasters.
This is how I made the engraved stone coasters.
The first thing I did was placed the stone coasters in the xTool S1.
For the circle pin point positioning, I clicked on the button “start marking”. Once I did that, I clicked on the circle and then clicked the green button to start marking.
I positioned the laser module on the stone coaster. Once I put the red + where it was supposed to go, I pushed the button on the machine. Then I positioned the laser module to the next point and clicked the button. I did it one more time and then the circle come up onto the screen in XCS.
To help with centering, I used a tape measuring and positioned the red + to be right in the middle of the coaster.
When you moved the laser module and the red +, the red + will move on the screen on XCS. I then centered the design with the red +. I love that the red + shows up on the computer, it makes it really easy to position the design exactly where you want it to go.
I repeated the steps for all 4 stone coasters, I did the circle pin point positioning, measured the center and positioned the design into the circle. Once they were all set up, I used the setting stone coaster, made sure the designs were on the engrave setting and then clicked process.
I sent the design to the xTool S1 and watched the coasters be transformed.
Here are all 4 designs engraved onto the stone coasters. It took about 30 minutes for all 4 coasters to be engaved.
The machine engraved it beautifully.
And that’s it!! Super easy to make! The circle pin point positioning system makes it super easy to position the design perfectly.
These stone coasters are a great way to show your school spirit!
