#ad Healthy Chicken Alfredo with Pesto Recipe #JustAddTyson

January 20, 2014 by Kaysi 7 Comments

I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for Collective Bias and its advertiser.

This year my family is trying to be more healthy, with healthy eating, exercising regularly and cutting down our snacking.  Luckily we already love chicken and it is so easy to add grilled chicken to a meal to make it even more healthy and substantial.  We love having Tyson grilled and ready chicken in our freezers so we can #JustAddTyson chicken to a pasta or a salad and make it for dinner.  I love how easy it is and how tasty it is too!

I made an amazing healthy chicken Alfredo with the chicken.   Normally Alfredo sauces are super rich and creamy, but this one is great because it uses cream cheese and Parmesan cheese, so it’s not as heavy.  Plus it is super easy to make!

I headed to Walmart to get the grilled chicken.  They are on rollback now for only $5.87.  And they can be found in a super fridge near the meat department.

Here is what you’ll need:
4 oz 1/3 less fat cream cheese
2 cups low fat milk (not skim)
2 Tbsp flour
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp butter
3 garlic cloves
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 Tbsp basil pesto (optional)
Tomatoes
Tyson Grilled and Ready Chicken

1) Put the milk, cream cheese, flour, salt and pesto into a blender and blend until smooth.  Put aside.
2) On medium heat, melt butter in a medium sauce pan and then add garlic and cook for about 30 seconds to a minute, until bubbly.
3) Add milk mixture to the pan and stir constantly for 3-4 minutes.
4) When the sauce is a little thicker, remove from heat.  Add Parmesan cheese and stir.  Cover and let sit for 10 minutes.

5) While the sauce is thickening, cook the chicken in some oil for 3-5 minutes.

Put over desired noodles.  I used penne but it tastes great with all kinds.  Top noodles with chicken, tomatoes and cheese.  We served it with homemade bread sticks and steamed broccoli.  The broccoli tasted amazing in the pasta too!

We also love to add the Tyson grilled and ready chicken to our freezer meals that we have for lunch. The chicken makes it have enough protein so we can make it to dinner without feeling like we need to snack.

On Facebook, Tyson wants to help you eat healthy and is giving ideas on how to do that.  Ideas like making simple additions to your routines that you already do everyday.  In January they will share tips and recipes.  And prizes will be rewarded weekly to people that participate.  The program runs from January to March.

If you’re trying to be more healthy, then you should try to use the Tyson grilled and ready chicken.  All the flavors are amazing. Plus it makes cooking so much easier, by cutting down the cook time.

I would love it if you followed along.

Looks delish! I only use organic chicken. I understand, from a very reliable source, that they use a LOT of growth hormones, etc. in their chickens. Scary!

I love how easily you made that pesto. I usually avoid what I deem "heavy sauces" like this but I like your healthier/lighter version of this one. I'll have to try it. #client
