Budget Friendly Renovation Ideas- Style Selections Santori Stone Peel and Stick Tiles

When we coming up with ideas to renovate our second house, we decided that we wanted to go with more budget friendly renovations and things that didn’t take too long to do but made the space look updated. We considered putting the same waterproof laminate that we put in the common areas, but decided that would be too time consuming and it would involve having to take out the toilets in all three of the bathrooms. We wanted a more simple idea. In our current house, we have one bathroom that we put in peel and stick tiles and it was a really simple project and it looks great. I love the look of tile in bathrooms but tiling a bathroom takes a lot of time also, so the peel and stick tiles seemed like the best option for us. Even though these are peel and stick tiles, they don’t look like it, especially with the grout. Each bathroom only took a couple hours to do and they all turned out amazing!

The house has 2 and 1/2 bathrooms and then the laundry room, all with this linoleum flooring. It isn’t horrible but it isn’t pretty either. In this bathroom, the flooring wasn’t in bad shape but in other rooms there were holes and rips in the linoleum, so it was time for it to go.

Here is the half bathroom downstairs.

Here is the master bathroom.

Here is the upstairs bathroom.

Just like everything else I have done in this house, I looked for something that would look good with browns but would also look good with grays. We found this 12 x 24 Style Selections Santori Stone tile at Lowe’s and it was exactly what we were looking for. I bought enough tile to cover the 3 bathrooms and the laundry room, plus the premade grout in driftwood to grout the peel and stick tiles. The total cost for all of that was about $225, not too bad for flooring for 4 rooms!

Before actually tiling the room, I made sure the tiles looked good with the Vigil Island Oak laminate flooring we had already installed. I was nervous that the tiles would pull too gray but once in place, they looked great.

Installing these peel and stick tiles is super easy, you can start in the middle of the room and work your way out or you can line them up perfectly, it is totally up to you. We went with a more random approach, and we spaced them 1/8″. You can buy spacers but we used a tape measurer instead. Once you have the placement, you peel off the backing and then place the tile onto the floor and push down to secure it. When you need to cut the tiles, a box cutter works great.

We placed the tiles right on top of the linoleum and left a gap for a transition piece to complete the flooring.

Once all of the tiles were on, we then used the premade grout, rubber grout float and a sponge, we then grouted the tiles. All of the imperfections went away with the grout and it turned out great! We then added some new baseboards and painted those a nice bright white.

We then put in the transition piece and it looks so much better than before!

We did the exact same thing for upstairs bathroom. Put the tiles in.

Grouted the tiles.

Added new baseboards.

And that’s it for the upstairs bathroom.

For the master bathroom, we had our son do it and he did a great job. He placed and cut all of the peel and stick tiles by himself.

Look at his pretty work!

Then we grouted it and then put the baseboards on and it looks so much better!

If you are looking for an easy way to update your flooring, these peel and stick tiles are a great option. It is so simple, that even a beginner can do it! Want to see the rest of the house, check out this post here.
