I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and its client.

‘Tis the season for baking!!  With the cold weather and the holidays coming up I actually want to be in the kitchen and bake! This year for my neighbor gifts I want to make some yummy treats.  Since I’m not an avid baker I needed some good ideas on what to make for a neighbor gift.  Land O’ Lakes has an awesome brochure filled with some great recipes that are perfect for gift giving.  I saw the chocolate surprise loaf and I knew that I wanted to it out try.  They just look so cool!

I went shopping for the ingredients at Walmart.  I found several different kinds of Land O’ Lakes butter there.  I picked up some salted and unsalted butter sticks.  I’m always using it for the #HolidayButter.

This is what you’ll need for the chocolate loaf:
1 frozen pound cake
1 stick Land O’ Lakes butter, softened
2 eggs
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
2 tsp vanilla
2 oz semi sweet chocolate bar
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
For the glaze:
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1-2 tbsp milk

Makes 2 8×3 inch loaves or 3 6×3 inch loaves.

1) To make the inside of the loaf, cut the pound cake into 1/2″slices and then cut out 2 shapes for each slice.  Put aside.

2) In a mixer, mix brown sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla.  Then add melted chocolate and sour cream.  Continue to mix until it’s completely mixed.
3) Add remaining ingredients and then mix until smooth.

4) Put 1/2 cup of the batter into the bottom of a greased 8×3 pan.  Then place the shapes across the pan, lining them up and gently pushing them into the batter.  Then put the remaining batter over top the of the pound cake.

5) Bake in oven for 35 minutes at 375 degrees.  While it is cooking, mix together powdered sugar and milk to make glaze.

I tied it up with some baker’s twine and added a little tag.  This is perfect for a neighbor gift.  I can’t wait to give it away!
