I have this ladder that I like to decorate for every season or holiday. I couldn’t not decorate it for Christmas, since it is by far my favorite season! I had fun making it and love how it looks in my living room.
This is how I made the décor:
I took some wood and then drew the shapes onto it. No, I’m not artist, can you tell?
With a band saw, my husband cut out the shapes for me. I’m still afraid of that saw, so good thing he isn’t.
I painted the candy cane white and then taped off some sections and then painted it red. Then I put some glitter onto the red parts.
For the star I just painted it blue and then added glitter to it.
For the rest of the pieces, I used vinyl on them. In Cricut Craft Room (CRR), I rearranged all of the shapes that I was going to cut.
Then I cut the vinyl out with my Expressions 2. Since the machine is new, I did the pressure of 2 and depth of 2, instead of the recommended pressure of 3 and depth of 3.
The Expressions 2 has gotten much better. Not only with the CRR, but with this little touch screen. It’s so nice to be able to see the images and then see what it will look on the mat. So you know exactly how big it will be when you cut it and you don’t have to guess how big it will be or how much paper you will need.
Once the vinyl was all cut, I then used some spray adhesive onto it.
Then I sprinkled some glitter onto it. I wanted the glittery look on the vinyl too.
For the snowman, painted it white and added glitter and then added the vinyl to decorate the space. I got these shapes for the cartridge snow friends.
For the tree I painted it green and then added the fun snowflakes and ornaments. I love the glitter on the vinyl! The ornaments came from Close to my Heart cartridge and the snowflakes came from various ones.
I cut the wood blocks to 3 1/4” x 4” and then painted them red. Then I added the glittery NOEL vinyl. The font is called Smart Cookie from Martha Stewart All Occasions.
For the stable, I painted it brown and put glitter on it. Then I added some vinyl with the manger and Mary and Jesus. The image came from the cartridge Inspired Heart.
To put the shapes onto the ladder, I added a little bit of ribbon and hung it on some hooks there were already there.
I love how the glitter looks, especially on the vinyl.
I love decorating for Christmas!
