Did you know that Mother’s Day is THIS Sunday?? I’m still shocked that it is still May, this year has flown by! Did you need an easy and great gift idea? Luckily for you and for me, right now Walmart has a One-Stop Shop from American Greetings that have some awesome things that are perfect for Mother’s Day. I picked up some fun things and then made a few things to turn it into a perfect DIY photo gift for Mother’s Day.
Every year when Mother’s Day comes around, I of course think about my Mom. She is an amazing person, one of the most selfless people I have ever met. You can never really appreciate your mom until you become a mom yourself and then you can relate to the sacrifice and love that goes into raising kids. My mom has been an amazing teacher and I have learned so much from her example.
This is my immediate family (yes I said immediate) in 2006. It has grown a ton since then even (me alone have added 4 kids). Anyway, this family happened all because of my mom and her love for children. When she got married she wanted 12 kids, my Dad wanted 0. They settled for 9. She has touched many lives with her sweet personality and caring spirit and her love for people. She is such a wonderful and giving person, I hope that someday I am 1/2 the woman and mother that she is!
This Mother’s Day I wanted to make her something special. Since she has a love for children, I wanted to do something that had to do with my kids. I headed to Walmart and picked up something fun things from the One-Stop Shop from American Greetings. I found the display in the front of the store where they put the seasonal items. They had a ton of cute things and it was hard to just pick a few things, I wanted it all! They had candles, frames, cups, pillows, candy, cards and more!
This is what I picked up for the gift basket. I fell in love with the magnetic plaque (I wanted one for myself… hmm maybe I’ll go back and get one, Happy Mother’s Day to me!).
I wanted to turn the cute magnetic plaque into a fun little memo board for my Mom to use. It only had 2 magnets, so I thought it would be fun to make a few more. I got some gems and then some American Greetings wrapping paper and made some.
This is how I made them. I put a layer of Mod Podge onto the gem and then placed it onto the wrapping paper.
Then I cut around the gem to trim down the wrapping paper. I then put another layer of Mod Podge onto the paper to seal it.
I let it dry and then put a little magnet strip onto it.
And that’s it! I put them into this super cute container I got and then put them onto the magnetic plaque.
I then used them to put a super cute picture of my kids and some notes from them.
I also loved these memo pads, so I picked those up because we can always more notepads, especially if they are super cute like these.
And of course I had to get a fun card for her. This card was perfect from me because I’m a comic relief :). I literally laughed out loud when I found it in the store. I knew that I had to get it!
I put it all into a cute basket, added some amazing chocolate and it’s all set ready for Mother’s Day.
I can’t wait to give it to her and show her that I love and appreciate her!
What is something special that you love about your Mom? I would love to hear it!

As for your viewing pleasure, the great card that I picked up. I laugh every time I read it!
What a great idea to make extra magnets for that board! I love your basket idea and I think I need to make one for my stepmom. I wonder what inspiration I'll find at the American Greetings display.
