This Christmas I got a Kitchen Aid!! I actually bought it for myself before Christmas (anyone else buy their own gifts?). I got really a good deal on it and have already put it to good use. I love being able to store the attachments in the bowl but I worry about them and bowl getting dirty. Either from dust or bugs or little kids always touching them. So I decided that I needed to put a cover on it. It’s fun to add a little color to it too, the white was a little to plain for me :). (I will have a tutorial on the subway art next week.)
This is how I made it:
I took some fabric and cut it into a square. I measured the diameter of the bowl and it was 9″ so I added 3″ inches for allow the fabric to go over the bowl. I cut the fabric to 12×12 inches.
I folded the fabric in half and then half again. Then I marked the fabric so I can cut the fabric. In the picture I measured 7.5″ but it was too big. So I ended up making a mark at 6″. I measured from the right corner and marked 6″ at all different angles.
I then cut the fabric along the dots to make a circle.
I ironed down the sides of the circle (I also got rid of the wrinkles).
I then sewed the 1/4 ” elastic onto the circle. Using a straight stitch I set it to the longest stitch setting. Then I pulled the elastic tight and sewed it on when it was tight. Once it’s sewed on, it will unstretch and gather the fabric.
Here it is all sewed on.
Then I put it onto the bowl. It fits perfectly (phew!).
And that’s it! It was super easy to make and I love how it looks.

What a wonderful idea! I use my kitchen aid pretty often but sometimes if I don't it can get a little dusty inside.
How darling is this? I don't have a Kitchen Aid, I have an older mixer that is the one my mom had when she got married….oh 35 years ago or so. I kind of love it. You have the cutest mixer I have ever seen.
