While I was working on my master bedroom shelf, I was trying to figure out what would look on the shelf that wouldn’t break if (and when) my kids got to it. Décor balls are great for that. I had some brown ones already but I wanted to add some color to them, so I made these to go with.
This is how I made them:
I took a little wiffle ball, a 1 3/4” strip of fabric and foil. I wrapped the ball with the foil and glued it on with my glue gun.

I took the strip of fabric, folded it in half (I glued it together so it wouldn’t come apart). Then I tied a knot in the end and glued the knot onto the ball. Then I twisted the fabric (like making a rosette) and worked my way around the knot. I used lots of glue as I went around.
And here is the final product. So easy to make!
I liked the look of it so much that I made two more that day!
Now when I was trying to figure out what to put them in, I couldn’t figure it out. I didn’t want to go out and buy a bowl. So I went to my kitchen and found this one. Love the shape of it and we really don’t use it that often. So I thought I would use it. But I didn’t love the colors of the flowers, they didn’t go. So I thought that I would spray paint it. Well I laid in bed just staring at it for a good hour. I loved the design, just not the colors.
So I came up with a solution: vinyl! Just using scissors, I could out petals to go over the flowers.

I did that for the whole bowl and it matches the room and shelf so much better now!
My two youngest kids were watching me when I was making all of these décor balls. They decided that they needed to help me decorate too!
Very cute! I pinned it as a possible decoration for my new home soon. Also, great idea with the bowl! Love the new colors.
Love the fun colors! Would love it if you would share at my {all things creative} linky party:)

Love, Love, LOVE your take on the fabric wrapped balls ~ I adore the twisted technique! I pinned it to my 'New LivingRoom' folder ~ getting ready to revamp {~on the cheap of course!~}. But my Absolute MOST Favorite part would be your Childrens' special touch! <3
How cute! I love this idea. Gotta pin it =)
