One of my favorite things about Utah is all of the things it has to offer. Utah is a very crafty state and because of that and my blog, I have been able to do a lot of things that I never thought possible.
I’m in several groups on Facebook because of my blog. I first joined one in February and since then have done a ton of things with bloggers and it has been awesome!! I seriously love it! This week I just happened to be on Facebook when someone in one of the groups posted that they were looking for someone that is in Davis county and that like to garage sale. I emailed them within 2 minutes and she emailed me back and within about 10 minutes, I was in. I was super excited. Seriously, like jumping up and down giddy. Why do you ask I would be giddy? Well I was going to get $100 to spend on garage sales. I love garage sales already, but then to be able to do it with someone’s money, even better!!
So this Saturday, I met up with some people from KSL. Brooke Walker, a host from Studio 5, and James Young. I had my friend Staci come with me because she has one of those bubbly personalities and I knew that she would help me not to be nervous and just be myself. So they put a microphone on me and taped me while I drove around looking for garage sales, and asking me questions about them. They told me to think out loud… so I think I said some dumb things. :). Then they filmed me as I looked at things and talked with the sellers and things like that. It’s a weird feeling to have a camera on me at all times!

It was a perfect day for garage sales. I found things that I was actually looking for!!! I found things that I was going to buy this week and even more. Can you tell how happy I am? I was on cloud 9 all day long! I couldn’t stop smiling. I was running on adrenaline the whole day (I woke up at 4:30am because I was too excited and I didn’t stop moving until about 9:00 at night). I even wore an outfit that was completely from garage sales.
Here is all of the stuff that I found:

These are the things that I’m most excited for:
I went onto Ksl.com and look at garage sales, one said they had fabric and sewing things. So I actually contacted the seller to see when she said. That was one of the first places we went! I got this whole bucket of sewing stuff for only $10. I’m super excited for the thread and zippers, I need more anyway!

At the same sale, she had designer fabric, like Riley Blake, Moda, Amy Butler and Michael Miller. I just learned about designer fabric and it’s super expensive. Like $10 a yard expensive. But it’s SUPER cute!! And it’s super nice and thick. So I got 17 yards for about $35. I should have gotten more….

I got this for my kitchen or craft room. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it but it was too awesome not to get it. I know people put fruit in it but I just made a fruit holder, so I’m thinking about putting something else in it. Any suggestions? It was $10

These chairs were an awesome find. They were pretty hard to get because the people at the sale were sitting on them and wouldn’t really let me look at them. I had to keep on asking them to let me look at them and then she would sit back down the second I stopped looking. I got a set of four for $6. That is what she was asking, I didn’t even have to ask down the price. They have been a hot item, people have wanted to buy them from me. I even gave on to Brooke.

I am super excited about this chest/trunk. It’s huge!! This one was at the very first garage sale I went to. I saw it and immediately went to it and asked her about it (good thing too because someone else was eyeing it!). It was in great shape and so I was excited about it.

And then she opened it up, and I knew I was going to get it, no matter what. This paper is on the lid and the bottom. It’s in really good shape. So I asked her how much… $5!!! Umm, yes please!!

I found these super cute shoes for only $.50 each. I saw the yellow ones and didn’t even try them on because I wanted them. They are super cute and yellow is so popular and fun right now. The sellers went and got the two other pairs for me to buy too!!

I got a lot more too, I just didn’t take pictures of it. It was such a great day. I loved every minute of it!!
So now for the awesome part…
I AM GOING TO BE ON THE 10PM NEWS ON KSL MONDAY NIGHT!!!
I’m super excited but nervous at the same time. They took a ton of video so I’m interested to see what they used and what they won’t use. Plus there were two other people doing the same thing as me. They were in South Jordan and Utah County. There was a little competition to see who could find the best deals and treasures.
So if you’re in Utah or WY, I would love it if you watched it tonight on KSL (channel 5)! Come watch and see if I won the little competition or not.
To see the video, go here.
WOW! That trunk is fantastic! And for $5?? Sweet!
It's very weird being followed around by a camera crew- a few years ago I did a show with National Geographic and it was a fun but very nerve-wracking experience. Especially because the show was about guns and I am not a gun person- which is why they wanted me! Here's a short clip to give you a good laugh (I say plenty of stupid things too- I show up around the 40-second mark): http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/national-geographic-channel/shows/explorer-1/ngc-showing-off-the-guns/
I watched the video and you did a GREAT job!!! You didn't look nervous at all and you were a natural!
Oh and by the way, those wire baskets would be a cute place to store kitchen towels. 🙂
That is awesome, Kaysi! I will be watching you tonight!
I would totally store rolled up fabric in those wire shelves. I'm hopin for an online link, Kaysi, so I can watch back here!
I will be watching! I love your finds. I am a crocheter, so I immediately thought of yarn ball storage with the wire bowls. And those chairs are amazing! I admit I'm a little jealous. 🙂
Kaysi,
How exciting, I am so happy for you! I wish I lived in your area so I could watch you on the news. Maybe you can link the video to this blog so those of from out of the area can see?
You found some great things! The prices were fantastic. That trunk around here would have been more like $40! I would use the wire/fruit rack for crafting supplies.
Congratulations!
Wow! What great finds! I love the fabric! I havent gotten into to design fabric yet.. too expensive for me. Haha.. one day 🙂
Ps.. make sure you check out my giveaways this week! Lots of great stuff up for grabs 🙂
You had some awesome finds. I would definitely use that wire rack for crafting supplies. I wish I could see you on the news. Maybe you can find a way to put it on here so we can see.
Great Finds – – and you're FAMOUS!!
That is SOOO awesome! and how fun!!! Although I always garage sale like its a competition…no cameras necessary, lol… I hope you WIN!

Lots of fun stuff!!
I am soooo jealous of your haul!! And you looked super cute!
Wow. You are right! Going tag saling is so much fun but then to get paid for it!! Super goodness! I saw a black trunk just like the one you bought. But when I go tagging sometimes I forget that I have a whole house full of furniture already! Those are amazing chairs you picked up. Love 'em. Have fun tagging. I do. Linda
Way to go Garage Sale champ! So cool! You did great on TV!
