I am 5 1/2 months pregnant. And like every pregnant woman, I get cravings. One day I had a HUGE craving for a slurpee. I love slurpees, always have and when I have a craving for one, I want one right now. Well I also happen to live in the middle of nowhere, so I can’t just get one right away. I went to our local gas station (which is 20 minutes away) a couple days later and had a slushy. It wasn’t great and didn’t help with my craving. Then one of my friends on instagram posted that she made homemade slurpees and all I needed was Sprite, koolaid and ice. I made it and it wasn’t great, but then I tried again and again to perfect the recipe. Once I got it figured out I was surprised how much it tasted like a real Slurpee!
This is what you need:
Koolaid favor (the little packet)
Sprite or lemon lime pop (I actually used Sprite Zero)
Sugar
Ice
Look at the back of the Koolaid packet, and see how much sugar to add. If it says a cup, use about 1/2 cup or 3/4 cup. If you use regular Sprite, I would 1/2 cup sugar. I used 3/4 cup when I used Sprite Zero.
Add the sugar and Koolaid and then add 2 cans (or 3 cups) of Sprite. Fill the rest of the blender with ice and then blended it together. It makes a lot but it has been perfect for dinner, just the right amount for the whole family.

***I sometimes make this with Sprite Zero and Splenda for a zero calorie drink!! The texture is a little different but the taste is still great!***
Some of my favorite flavors so far are: strawberry kiwi, strawberry and peach mango. Watermelon is good but interesting.
I like the sound of this! We don't have Kool aid in the UK, maybe I'll hunt around for an alternative cos it looks really refreshing! x
I can't tell you how timely this is! During the summer, I would take my daughter for a slurpee each Friday to celebrate her good behavior at school {well, provided she was actually good}. Now that it is so cold, I can't justify taking her but she still loves them. Now, I can just make them at home AND get her involved.
Thanks for sharing this 🙂
I can not wait to try this one at home! I am so totally addicted to slurpees it is crazy! I also understand what you mean when you say when you want one you want it right away! Thanks for sharing!
That sounds delicious, if it weren't January! I'm going to PIN IT and when the warm weather returns I am so trying it! Thanks for sharing! Hope you are feeling better!
