Does anyone else just want a change sometimes? Some days I just want to go to my closest and throw away everything and just get new clothes. Lately I have been really wanting some kind of change. I don’t want to dye or cut my hair but I want a different look. I don’t want to buy a complete new wardrobe because I don’t have enough money. So I went to my stash of stuff and found decided to refashion a shirt so I can have something new. I love doing this, it doesn’t cost money and it feel like I have have new clothes 🙂
I actually came up with this idea a while ago, I thought about making a dress like this but instead settled on the shirt (I have too many dresses anyway)
This is how I made it
I too a black shirt and some ruffle fabric. I love ruffle fabric, I know that Hobby Lobby now carries it!
I tried on the shirt and then pinned where I want it to hit. Then I cut an inch lower than that (because I didn’t want to the line to go right in the middle of my chest….)
Next I cut the ruffle fabric the same width of my shirt. The shirt was too big, so I knew that going the same width would be okay with the seam allowance
I place the two pieces of ruffle fabric together, making sure to match up the ruffles. Then I sewed the sides together.
I put the shirt into the ruffle fabric and then sewed them together.
And that’s it. Super simple and quick!!!
I thought it needed a little something, so I made a little belt. I just took a piece of fabric 5″ wide and the length of my waist plus two inches. I folded it in half, sewed it and turned it inside out.
I then added some rosettes and sewed on some leaves.
And here is the shirt. I really like how it turned out!!
Yay for new clothes that didn’t cost anything! 🙂

You need your own line of clothing!! All of your shirts and skirts are amazing. I need to learn how to sew so I can follow some of your tutorials. -Sarah @ Repeat Crafter Me
