Tutorial Tuesday: Cheetah Boots

March 13, 2012 by Kaysi 28 Comments

I have seen a lot of people cover their shoes, with fabric, vinyl and then I saw someone cover their boots with duct tape.  I am a huge fan of duct tape!  Back when was I in high school I made a ton of things out of duct tape.  Too bad their didn’t have the fun prints that they have now, or I would have had a blast with it!!  I decided to go with the cheetah print duct tape. I just found it at Target but you can find lots of different prints all over!
This is how I made them:
1) I took a pair of boots that I got from a garage sale for $1.  They were actually in great shape, I just never wore them.
2) Then I started covering them with the duct tape.  I tried to overlap the pieces a little bit and tried to go up and down as much as I could.  When the tape wouldn’t lay flat, I cut a slit in the tape and that made it lay flat.  I folded the tape over the top about an inch.  And for the zipper, I didn’t put any duct tape on it, just put the tap right up next to it.
3) For the toe of the boot, I wrapped around the duct tape and then cut slits in the tape.
4) Then I pressed down the tape around the toe.
I finished covering both boots, fun huh?  I’m so tempted to do another pay in a very fun color, like blue or green :).
It was so much fun wearing them to church!!

Awesome! My brother went to his senior prom in a duct tape suit. His date also had a duct tape dress. Who knew it could be so versatile? 🙂 I didn't know they had different prints now …

The only duct tape I've ever noticed was the standard gray. When I read the first paragraph before seeing the photo's that was what I was thinking of. I had not clue they made different patterns and colors. I think I've been living in a cave maybe? I like Melissa's brother doing his prom duds in duct tape. I bet that went over good.

I'm just now getting into the DUCT TAPE fad, with the flowers, though I haven't tried this on shoes just yet. When my daughter sees this, she's gonna love it! thanks for sharing, esp how to go around the toe area.

An amazing idea! Especially for your $1 boots…..love love love it. I just bought 3 rolls of 'fancy' duct tape and am going to make flowers to add to my granddaughter's summer flip flops. So glad someone thought of making them cute! Very nice!
