I just loved this tutorial from Tea Rose Home and thought that it would fun to make a similar shirt to hers.
I scored these two shirts for $1.50 a piece!! I was so excited to find them. I just made one into a short sleeve shirt and then other one I made into this ruffle shirt. I used the sleeves from both shirts.
This is how I made it:
1) I cut off the sleeves.
2) I hemmed the sleeve and then I gathered the sleeve with elastic thread.
I do this to a lot of my shirts, it’s super easy but so fun and cute!!
3) Next I took three strips that were 1″ wide and sewed them together. Then I made one long ruffle for the top. I pinned it and then sewed the ruffle onto the neckline.
4) I used 3″x14″ strips for the ruffles. Using my elastic thread, I ruffled the strips and then pinned it onto the shirt.
5) Then I pinned and sewed the next ruffle under the first ruffle. I continued doing that until I got to the very end.
Sorry for the blurry picture…. but here’s what the shirt looks like now
It was so easy to do, and I love the ruffles!
