When I saw the link that Megan from the Brassy Apple posted to my Motivate Me Monday party, I knew that moment that I wanted to do it! I knew the exactly what shirt I wanted to use too. I have a shirt that has gone through one pregnancy and nursing two kids… so it’s a little frumpy and stretched out. I thought that it would be perfect for this!
This is how I made it:
1) Find a shirt that is about one size bigger than you usually wear
2) Cut a line down the middle of the shirt
3) Using a measuring tape, cut strips that are about an inch apart and 3 inches wide
4) Cut strips on the other side of the shirt
5) Starting at the top, tie the strips into knots and continue all the way down
And you’re down. So simple and easy!

Any idea how it does in the wash?
I am thinking it could also be interesting cut on an asymmetrical curve (from the collarbone area, curving down to that center line), or maybe with a "v" cut out of the top and then tied back on. Not sure how that would work, but I might give it a try on a throwaway shirt. 🙂

Rachel:
I have washed it and dried it twice now and it's fine. You have to fix the knots because they get stuck in the holes but other than that it's been great!

I actually made one of these, but cut up the outsides and sleeves. It ended up too small. Do your knots stay well or do they eventually come apart?
Aubree
I want to make one- it is super cute! but I am wondering about modesty. Are the knots going to untie and the shirt fly open? Do they leave gaps that you can see through?

My sister is currently expecting her second. I wonder if she has any stretched out t-shirts she's bored with?
