Whatever Wednesday: Long Black Skirt Refashion

April 20, 2011 by Kaysi 12 Comments

So I have had this long and stretchy black skirt for a long time, since 8th grade. I loved this skirt, I wore it all the time and I wore it with everything. Well when I moved to Kansas where winters really aren’t that bad and I discovered boots, I have stopped wearing long skirts. I never get rid of it because I loved it so much. So…..
I just cut it short and added ruffles! And now I loved my black skirt again and will wear it!! (I wish that it looked like this when I wore it in 8th grade, maybe I would have been cooler :D) And yes, I did cut off those strings…

I just cut off the bottom of it and used that bottom fabric for the ruffles.

It’s hard to tell, but the inside of the fabric is shiny, so the little ruffle has the shiny side up.

Much better huh? I bet that you have a long skirt that you can do something to. I know I have 2 or 3 more calling my name…. 🙂

Love this! I have a long black stretchy skirt that I've been hanging on to since middle school that's just begging for a makeover, too. Thanks for sharing.

I have a dress I could totally refashion this way. I wore it on Sunday and vowed never to wear it as is again. Thanks for yet another amazingly fantastic idea.

Very sexy! But would you really have wanted to be that sexy in school?! Your parents would probably have something to say about that, lol!

What a cute idea. I too have one of these skirts, which I had forever. I have wanted to refashion it, but didn't quite know what I wanted to do. I think ruffles would be a great change. Thanks for the idea:>
