10K

October 9, 2011 by Kaysi 9 Comments

This morning I ran my second 10K.

I’ve really struggled with losing the baby weight this time around. I was 5 pounds heavier when I had my little girl and it’s those 5 pounds that I can’t seem to lose.
So I did Insanity and got down to my normal weight, but then the stress of life and the move came and I turned to food and haven’t had the time to run or exercise, so of course I put back on the weight.

2 1/2 weeks ago I was sitting in bed talking with my husband and complaining about gaining weight, how I look and things like that (it’s a pretty common conversation in our house). I have a hard time running or exercising without a purpose or a goal. So I researched up coming races and there happened to be a 10K here, so I signed and then I started training.
The race went well today. I really didn’t go fast, but a nice pace. I felt good. It was so nice to run again. I forgot how much I like it. I’m definitely a runner.
I had a couple of goals in mind when I got there. Run it in about 55 minutes and get in the top 10 for girls. Those were some really big goals since I had only been running for 2 1/2 weeks. Well I met them. I ran it in 55:01 minutes, took 21st overall, 8th in girls and 1st in my age division, so I was pretty excited about that 🙂

No pictures of me running, I told my husband to just keep the kids home.

Way to go! I'm definitely not in good enough shape to do a 10k but I am loving running in this fall weather:)

Congratulations! I don't have the knees to run, but I love yoga. I struggle with my weight as well, like so many, but i always feel better when i'm doing something about it.

WTG! I did C25K last year and almost made it to the 5K before it just got to hot to run. I'm restarting tomorrow now that the weather is nice. You will be my inspiration!

Well done you, I know the motivation it takes to do these things. I've run a couple of 10k's and am considering a half marathon next year BUT my problem is motivation – how do you get yourself out there on the days you just don't want to?
