4th of July Decor Idea- Flag Decor Ball #MakeItFunCrafts

May 29, 2015 by Kaysi 4 Comments

Disclosure: I was given product and compensated for this post, all opinions, ideas and content are 100% my own.
I love foam balls, they are so very versatile, there are so much you can do with them.  Never again will I buy a decor ball from the store because you can make them so easily with foam balls.  With the 4th of July coming up soon, I thought that it would be a really fun to create a fun decor ball to go with my 4th of July decor.  I turned the foam ball into a flag using yarn.  It was super easy to do and I love how it turned out!
This is what I used to make the flag ball:
A large FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam Balls
Red, white and blue yarn
Glue gun
Card stock (for stars)
Scissors

Using the glue gun, I started wrapping the blue yarn into the ball.  I started at the end and then wrapped the yarn around itself over and over again.  I would put a dab of glue on almost every layer.

Once I finished the blue yarn, I added the white yarn.

Then I put on the red yarn.

I switched the red and white until the whole ball was covered.
Finally I cut out some stars out of card stock and then glued them onto the blue yarn.
And that’s it!!  I put it onto a candle stick and it’s ready for the holiday!

I’m excited to get all of my other 4th of July decor out and put it with this fun flag ball :).
What is your favorite thing to do with foam balls?  Have you made your own decor ball before, I would love to see it, leave me a comment with a link!

Hey, very nice site. I came across this on Google, and I am stoked that I did. I will definitely be coming back here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just taking in as much info as I can at the moment. Thanks for sharing.

I love this idea, and it's a great way to use up leftover yarn, too. If you changed the colors, you could make these deco balls for fall, or Christmas, too. Thank you, Kaysi.

What a cute idea! I could see changing the colors up and making these for my daughters' room decor (hang with fishing wire) or even for a baby shower. Fun!
