This past week I walked into Walmart and saw that they had the school supplies out already. I actually smiled a little bit because I’m a little excited about school starting. This year I’ll have 3 of my kids in elementary school :). But that means that our mornings are going to be super crazy. I know that it feels like it’s a little early to start thinking about school, but before we know it it’s going to be here and we are going to have to get used to the routine of things again.
I thought that it would be nice to share 5 tips that will definitely make your mornings go a little more smoothly. I know that when I do all of these things, it helps a ton!
1) Plan out your children’s breakfast- Make frozen smoothie packets
First off it’s important to plan ahead and know what you’re going to feed your kids for breakfast rather than spending 15 minutes trying to decide what to feed them. So I made and froze smoothie packets for my kids. Each one will make about 4 smoothies. These are yummy and good for them too.
I made a Chocolate Berry smoothie:
1 cup strawberry banana yogurt
1-2 Tbsp Nestle Nesquik powder
1 handful of berries
Put all the ingredients into the a quart size freezer bag and freeze.
All you have to do in the morning is grab a bag, put it in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds and then add 1 to 1 1/2 cups of milk and blend it together. It’s perfect to go with your kids’ breakfast.
It was oh so yummy!
2) Pack your kids’ lunches the night before
I wish that I did this every single night. I don’t know why I forget sometimes. But it saves a ton of time! All I did was make up some sandwiches, grabbed a few snacks and added a fun chocolate milk and put it in their lunch box and put it into the fridge until morning.
3) Check their back pack for homework the night before!!
I can’t tell you how many times that I have asked my kids if they have homework and they tell me no. So I don’t bother to check their back pack and then in the morning I check it and find that they did have homework! Ahhh, it really makes for a crazy morning. So always check the back pack the night before, not the morning of.
4) Set your alarm and wake up way before your kids.
This one is hard for me and one that I’m going to try hard to work on this school year. I’m not a morning person. I have a hard time waking up in the morning. I like sleep. But when I decide to sleep in, it really causes stress and chaos. When I do wake up early and get going, it makes for a much better morning. Oh and going to bed earlier would help too.
5) Wake up and eat breakfast before your kids.
I’m one of those people that I have to eat to get going. I like to eat my food real quick and then help my kids with theirs. I just can’t function on an empty stomach. I also need something that will keep me going until lunch.
Cereal is good, quick and easy but by 10:00, I’m starving! I need something like these English muffins from Lean Cuisine. They are so easy to make and have the protein that I need to keep me going. They are great because they are #FoodMadeSimple.
This Turkey Sausage was actually really good. I was very surprised that I really couldn’t tell that it was turkey sausage. I honestly thought that it tasted the same as sausage, just not as greasy.
And the Canadian Bacon one was amazing too. You can’t go wrong with Canadian bacon :).
You should try these out! I found the English muffins in the frozen section at Walmart. They were with the other Healthy Entrees.
great ideas! I have a son in full day kindergarten this year… mornings are going to be different than when he was in half day preschool… in the afternoon ;o) EMily pinned!
Good thoughts. Seriously, if I did just even one of these suggestions, my mornings might go better.
