Halloween Rag Table Runner

Halloween Rag Table Runner

It’s October!!  And it’s officially time to start decorating for Halloween.  I love decorating for Halloween, but I don’t care for the scary part of Halloween, I like the colorful and fun and cute side of it.  I have a pretty big table (have to have a big table when you have 7 people in your family) and in the past I haven’t decorated it at all.  Well this year I wanted to make a fun table runner for it.  I had a lot of fun making it too!

I found these fun fabrics at Jo-Ann store, they had a bunch of different designs in fat quarters.  It was perfect because I could get several and not have to pay a ton of money for them (they were only $1.49 each).

I cut 6 different fabrics into 18×7 inches.  Each fabric I cut 2 pieces, so altogether I had 12 pieces.  I put the backs together and sewed the 5/8″ seam on the outside.  I did that for all 12 pieces until I had a long runner.

I then cut 5 3 x 44 inches strips for the edge around the runner.

I ironed the strips to make them into bias tape.

I pinned the orange strips all around the edge of the runner and then sewed it on.

Then I cut the seams every 1/2 inch.  This makes it raggy.

And that’s it!!  I love how it turned out and how it looks on my table.

I added a few things that I found to make the centerpiece.  The cauldron is filled with some candy bars that I made.

I am making this as a house warming gift for my brother and his girlfriend I was able to find the Halloween fabric 90% off. I had seen this and thought it was amazing.
